Your Role as the Transportation Aide

Skilled Nursing

Americare Senior Living is seeking a dependable and compassionate Transportation Aide to safely transport residents to approved destinations while providing assistance, supervision, and support. In this role, you'll be entrusted with the care and well-being of residents during transport and will represent Americare through professionalism, compassion, honesty, integrity, and respect.


Summary

The Transportation Aide is responsible for driving facility vehicles to transport residents to appointments, activities, and other approved destinations. This role also includes assisting residents during transport, ensuring safety, and maintaining a calm, supportive environment throughout the trip.


This role may also be known as:

Transportation Aide, Driver Aide, Resident Transportation Assistant, or Transport Assistant.


What You'll Do
  • Safely operate facility vehicles to transport residents to and from scheduled destinations
  • Assist residents with entering and exiting vehicles, including mobility and safety support
  • Provide supervision and attentive care to residents during transport
  • Maintain a courteous, respectful, and compassionate demeanor at all times
  • Ensure resident safety by following transportation and safety protocols
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding resident needs or concerns
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic safety checks of assigned vehicle
  • Protect resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines
  • Represent Americare positively when interacting with residents, families, and community partners
What You BringQualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 20 years of age
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license
  • Acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and attentive while transporting residents
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism
Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. and assist with resident transfers as needed
  • Push, pull, and maneuver up to 100 lbs., including resident mobility assistance
  • Maneuver resident wheelchairs weighing up to 350 lbs.
Safety Requirements
  • Follow all transportation safety procedures and two-person assist guidelines when required
  • Utilize required PPE and safety equipment
  • Report work-related injuries within 12 hours and complete required documentation
  • Participate in company drug testing procedures
  • Adhere to safe driving practices, including seatbelt use and no cell phone use while driving
Work Environment

This role involves driving company vehicles and assisting residents in and out of facilities, medical offices, and community destinations. Duties may include indoor and outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
