Job description

Description:

In this role, you will oversee and coordinate structural engineering projects through all phases of design and construction. This involves performing technical tasks such as designing and analyzing building structures, creating and communicating structural designs, and managing construction administration.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead and manage structural projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet high technical standards. Strive to continuously improve technical expertise and project management skills.
  • Design & Drafting: Assist in the production of structural drawings using drafting/modeling software and through direct collaboration with drafters and designers.
  • Creative Problem Solving: Develop innovative solutions, translate concepts into designs, and incorporate feedback effectively. Demonstrate attention to detail and maintain high-quality standards throughout all project phases.
  • Project Specifications: Prepare detailed project specifications.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage project financials, including preparing monthly percent-complete reports, financial projections, and pre-billing for invoicing.
  • Document Review: Participate in the preparation and review of construction documents (e.g., drawings, submittals, geotechnical reports, and proposals) to ensure accuracy and compliance with design requirements.
  • Coordination: Attend design coordination meetings with team members and client representatives to ensure clear communication and alignment.
  • Field Work: Coordinate and assist with site visits, field measurements, data collection, and construction site inspections. Prepare field reports and follow up on observations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (drafters, designers, engineers) and external stakeholders (consultants, architects, contractors, clients) to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Business Development: Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development teams to respond to RFQs, including participation in interviews, resume preparation, and presentations.
  • Team Leadership: Assist in the training, mentoring, and development of junior team members and contribute to peer reviews.
  • Professional Engagement: Actively participate in industry organizations to enhance the firm’s technical reputation and visibility.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Structural Engineer (S.E.).
  • 10 plus years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Proficiency with software such as RISA, RAM, Bluebeam, Revit, and AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Expertise in structural steel, wood, masonry, light-gauge metal framing, and/or reinforced concrete building design.
