Description The Deputy Attorney General for Policy in the Office of the Attorney General will support the Policy Director and the Legislative Director on legislative initiatives and policy goals for the benefit of the Office and Hoosier constituents. The Deputy Attorney General for Policy supports the Policy Director on all policy initiatives, working together to ensure sound policy is promulgated from the Office. The Deputy Attorney General for Policy reports directly to the Policy Director and is a member of the Legislative and Policy Development Team.

Examples of Duties Perform special projects and other duties as assigned to advance the Attorney General's policy agenda and goals. Appear on select policy related litigation cases or appeals with other DAGs. Provides effective and efficient legal and policy services.

Draft comment letters in response to proposed administrative rules, policy letters, and other policy related materials as assigned. Support the legislative team in preparation for the legislative session, including bill drafting. Assist during the legislative session by drafting amendments, tracking bills, meeting with various stakeholders on behalf of the Office, and performing time-sensitive tasks.

Assist during the post-session by drafting reports, implementing newly passed laws, and performing certain tasks related to Office priorities. Perform legal research on policy-related issues and draft legal memoranda summarizing research. Maintain professional and positive relationships with internal and external contacts on behalf of the Office.
