Job description

MDE is growing! We are currently looking for talented, educated and caring postpartum doulas, available to provide daytime and/or overnight support sessions, to join our perinatal support team. At MDE we provide in-home postpartum doula support sessions to support new parents as they navigate what it means to keep a tiny human alive. Our postpartum doulas support our families with anything they need during their postpartum journey, whether that is emotional or physical support, postpartum and/or newborn education, lactation/feeding support, the list goes on. We are looking for a postpartum doula who has a flexible schedule and is able to provide support as needed on an ad-hoc basis, as our client families partner with MDE for support.
To be successful in this role, you must be a direct communicator and someone who is proactive, organized and self-motivated. You must have over 3 years of postpartum doula experience and have completed a postpartum doula training. A postpartum doula and/or lactation certification is preferred but not required.
Location: NYC's 5 boroughs
Start date: ASAP
Days/times: Flexible schedule, postpartum sessions can occur Mon.-Sun. and last at least 3 hours long. We are looking for postpartum doulas who are available for day-time sessions and/or overnight sessions.
Compensation: $45 per hour paid via direct deposit bi-weekly as a W2 employee of MDE
For further consideration, applicants must possess the following:
  • Authorization to work in the US
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a postpartum doula
  • A strong understanding of the postpartum period and postpartum healing
  • Foundational breastfeeding education with experience supporting new moms in breastfeeding
  • Exceptional references that attest to strong communication skills, reliability, punctuality, maturity and high emotional intelligence
  • Readiness to help with light housekeeping and all tasks related to the newborn baby (meal prep postpartum meals, baby laundry, clean/sanitize bottles, home organization, etc.)
  • Openness to working in a household team (some of our families will have a nanny present)
  • A professional appearance and fluency in written English
