About this Job 58/50696658/ETS/7.2.2026-SG District 58- Engineering Technician Supervisor (Design) *** THIS IS A PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR CURRENT DOTD PERMANENT CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES ONLY *** At the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), we plan, build, maintain, and protect the transportation systems that connect communities, support commerce, and keep Louisiana moving. As a sub-professional expert for the District 58 Design Section, you will supervise staff and direct highly complex, specialized highway design projects while enforcing state and federal standards

This position is located in Franklin Parish, District 58/Unit 170 and reports to the Design Engineer. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus five years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus five years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR Thirty semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Analyze survey data independently to generate precise, standard-compliant highway project plans. Formulate alignments, drainage, striping layouts, and super elevations using AASHTO, MUTCD, and DOTD manuals. Prepare detailed project specifications using the latest DOTD Standard Specifications.

Supervise daily operations, delegate technical assignments, and review subordinate work for accuracy. Coordinate with survey crews, utilities, contractors, and public agencies to gather project data. Conduct performance evaluations, deliver technical training, and provide conflict resolution for subordinates.

Participate in structured training and required continuing education Support emergency/disaster response activities when needed Position-Specific Details: Compensation: Annual Salary of $57,242.00- $103,064.00 This position receives Premium Pay of an additional $1.00/hourly for every hour worked. Additional compensation may be considered impart with extraordinary qualifications in accordance with State Civil Service Rules and DOTD policy. Appointment Type: Promotional This position is open only to current permanent classified DOTD employees and may be filled by detail to special duty
