Job description

Job Summary/Company: Sparks Group has partnered with a local credit union seeking a detail-oriented part time Compliance Assistant to join their team. This position will play a vital role in safeguarding the Credit Union, ensuring operations strictly adhere to federal and state banking regulations. This is a part-time opportunity (25–30 hours/week, Monday through Friday).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Transaction Monitoring & Fraud Detection: Monitor and analyze suspicious account activity using specialized compliance software. Utilize Verafin and Symitar systems to detect, track, and investigate potential money laundering and financial crimes.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Process federal FinCEN Section 314(a) information requests promptly and accurately in compliance with strict regulatory timelines.

  • Legal Document Processing: Assist with the collection, review, and organization of documents responsive to legal subpoenas and garnishments.

  • Procedure Documentation: Draft clear, comprehensive internal compliance procedures and guidelines.

  • General Support: Uphold the Credit Union’s mission, vision, and core values while working collaboratively within a fast-paced, team-focused service culture.

Background Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of prior operations or compliance experience within a bank or credit union.

  • Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements and anti-money laundering (AML) frameworks.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent qualification is required.

  • Technical Skills: Technical proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Communication: Professional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience operating Verafin (or similar BSA monitoring platforms) and the Symitar core banking platform.

    • Prior exposure to processing subpoenas and garnishments within a financial institution.

This job is Fully Remote.

Pay Range: Hourly $18.00 to $20.00
