This position is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, compliance, cash management, and financial analysis for a growing coatings organization.The Controller ensures the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial information while providing meaningful insights to support operational excellence and strategic decision-making. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance day-to-day accounting management with forward-looking financial planning and process improvement initiatives.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFinancial Leadership & Business SupportPartner with executive leadership to support the Company's financial objectives and long-term growth strategy.Provide timely, accurate, and actionable financial analysis to support operational and strategic decisions.Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to executive leadership and ownership groups.Develop financial models and business analyses to evaluate operational initiatives, capital investments, and growth opportunities.Drive continuous improvement of financial processes, reporting capabilities, and internal controls.Collaborate with department leaders to monitor performance against budget and key financial objectives.Financial Planning & AnalysisLead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting activities across all departments.Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics.Analyze organizational performance, profitability, liquidity, and cost trends.Provide may impact business performance.Accounting & Financial ReportingOversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and cost accounting.Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.Oversee account reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial data.Ensure compliance with all reporting deadlines and financial requirements.Compliance, Audit & Internal ControlsMaintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and promote financial integrity.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.Oversee tax filings and compliance requirements in collaboration with external advisors.Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary compliance updates.Treasury & Cash ManagementOversee cash flow forecasting and working capital management.Manage banking relationships and related financial services.Monitor liquidity and ensure adequate cash resources for operational needs.Review and approve payment activities and cash disbursements.Assist with debt management and financing activities when applicable.Support risk management and insurance administration efforts.Manufacturing & Operational FinancePartner with operations leaders to improve financial performance.Oversee cost accounting and ensure accurate product costing methodologies.Analyze inventory valuation, inventory controls, and manufacturing variances.Monitor production costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.Support pricing analysis and profitability reviews.Leverage ERP systems and reporting tools to improve financial visibility and decision-making.Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop accounting team members.Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, cross-functional collaboration throughout the organization.QUALIFICATIONSEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.Minimum of 3 years of accounting leadership or supervisory experience.Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.Experience with cost accounting and inventory management preferred.CPA certification preferred.MBA or advanced accounting/finance degree is a plus.Technical Skills & KnowledgeStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably within a manufacturing environment.Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial analysis
