Position Summary:
The Product Engineer - II independently supports product lifecycle management, sustaining engineering activities, manufacturing support, and engineering change implementation within an electronics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing moderately complex product engineering activities related to medical devices and electro-mechanical products while supporting manufacturing continuity, product quality, operational efficiency, and customer requirements. The Product Engineer - II works closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, test engineering, program management, and customer teams to resolve product-related issues, implement product changes, and support continuous improvement initiatives with increasing technical ownership and independent decision-making responsibility.
Responsibilities:
  • Independently support product engineering activities for assigned products, assemblies, and customer programs.
  • Manage engineering change orders (ECOs), product revisions, bill of material (BOM) updates, and product documentation control activities.
  • Review and maintain engineering drawings, assembly documentation, specifications, work instructions, and manufacturing records for accuracy and configuration alignment.
  • Provide day-to-day manufacturing support related to product issues, documentation discrepancies, process concerns, and operational interruptions.
  • Analyze product-related production issues and support root cause investigations involving defects, yield concerns, process failures, and nonconforming material.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities involving manufacturing, quality, supply chain, test engineering, and program management to support operational and customer requirements.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities including manufacturing readiness review, documentation validation, process coordination, and engineering support to facilitate the successful transition of products from NPI builds to a production-ready state.
  • Procurement (i.e., fabrication or ordering) of tooling to ensure availability for associated builds.
  • Review and analyze manufacturing data, yield performance, defect trends, and operational metrics to identify product improvement opportunities.
  • Support implementation of corrective actions, process improvements, and product optimization initiatives focused on manufacturability, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in customer discussions, engineering reviews, and technical meetings related to assigned products and operational support activities.
  • Support disposition activities for nonconforming material, engineering deviations, waivers, and product change evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, technical documentation, product configurations, and revision history within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and document control systems.
  • Assist with validation and implementation of process changes, alternate components, and product modifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to lower-level engineering personnel and operational teams as applicable.
  • Support compliance with customer requirements, engineering standards, quality systems, and regulatory obligations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to product lifecycle management, engineering processes, and manufacturing support systems.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements
Must be U.S. persons within the definition of ITAR, with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. We can not sponsor visas.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related engineering discipline; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of product engineering, manufacturing engineering, sustaining engineering, or related engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting complex electro-mechanical manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, or manufacturing operations within a technical environment.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, engineering documentation control, ECO processes, and manufacturing support activities.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, assembly documentation, and engineering specifications.
  • Experience supporting root cause analysis, corrective action activities, and manufacturing issue resolution.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple engineering priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience utilizing ERP, PLM, MES, or manufacturing documentation systems.
  • Ability to maintain accurate engineering documentation and technical records.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional operational and engineering teams.
  • Strong computer proficiency with the ability to effectively use software applications, digital systems, and computer-based tools required to support engineering and business functions.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to interpret work instructions, documentation, and safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI), product transfer, or manufacturing startup activities.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards, electronics manufacturing quality systems, and regulated manufacturing requirements.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing yield improvement or operational process optimization initiatives.
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing data, defect trends, or operational performance metrics.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing engineering activities or technical reviews.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of applied mathematics, statistics, and physics principles used in engineering analysis, technical problem solving, process improvement, and data-driven decision making.

Physical Requirements / Essential Functions
  • Ability to remain seated and work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Frequent use of computers, phones, and other office or engineering equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through electronic communication methods.
  • Ability to move throughout office and manufacturing areas as needed.
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • May occasionally support activities within manufacturing areas requiring compliance with PPE and safety requirements.
