Job description

Description
Performs a full range of histology procedures, including tissue embedding, paraffin block preparation, microtomy, staining, coverslipping, slide filing, and related clerical duties. Oversees performance improvement activities and supports laboratory quality initiatives to ensure compliance with accreditation standards established by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and DNV Healthcare (DNV). Ensures adherence to federal, state, and agency regulations while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance within the histology department.
Requirements
Education:
High school diploma required. Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree in Histotechnology or a Natural Science preferred.
Experience:
Four (4) years of experience in an Anatomic Pathology setting may be substituted for the college requirement.
Certification/Licensure:
American Society for Clinical Pathology HT (ASCP) certification preferred.
Special Qualifications:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team to support quality patient care.
