Job description

Job Title: Estimator โ€“ Division 10 Specialties

Location: Charleston, SC or Columbia, SC or Charlotte, NC or Savannah, GA

Position Summary
A growing commercial construction firm is seeking a skilled Estimator specializing in Division 10 (Specialties) to support preconstruction and bidding efforts. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of specialty building products, ensuring scope completeness and alignment with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for Division 10 scopes, including but not limited to toilet partitions, accessories, lockers, operable partitions, fire protection specialties, and visual display boards
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate scopes of work
  • Solicit, review, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing
  • Identify scope gaps, overlaps, and potential risks, and develop clarifications and exclusions
  • Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, and suppliers during the bid process
  • Assist in value engineering efforts to provide cost-saving alternatives
  • Maintain organized estimate files and update cost databases
  • Support project handoff to operations upon award

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of estimating experience in construction, preferably with exposure to Division 10 or interior specialties
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred (but not required)

  • Experience with Division 10 product lines and vendors
  • Familiarity with estimating/takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift, On-Screen Takeoff)
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management or related field
