About the role

Colliers International is seeking a Property Accountant to join its dynamic team in Toronto. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will ensure monthly deadlines are met and special projects are completed on time. Your expertise in property accounting and strong communication skills will be essential to your success.

  • Prepare financial reports and analyses for individual properties or consolidated portfolios.

  • Ensure financial information is accurate and delivered on time.

  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.

  • Participate in the annual budgeting process and reforecasting.

  • Complete yearend adjustments and tenant billing.

  • Prepare working papers for yearend audits.

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and produce financial statements.

  • Perform monthly accounting tasks: journal entries, bank reconciliations, chargebacks, etc..

  • Ensure GST/QST reconciliation and remittance.

  • Manage bad debt provisions and tenant security deposits.

  • Monitor cash flow and anticipate future needs.

  • Collaborate closely with operations, leasing, and construction teams.

What you bring

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial real estate property accounting or a related field.

  • Professional designation CPA (strong asset).

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work professionally under pressure.

  • Strong autonomy, initiative, and teamwork skills.

  • Excellent time management and prioritization abilities.

  • Strong Excel, Word and Outlook knowledge.

  • Experience with real estate accounting systems, especially Yardi.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
