Job description

Overview

CORT Tradeshow and Events is hiring a District General Manager (DGM) in Secaucus, NJ. CORT provides furniture rental solutions to trade shows and events including festivals, weddings, corporate events, or even the Superbowl!  

The DGM is responsible for balancing the performance, safety, and productivity of daily operations in the Boston District of our national organization. The District General Manager (DGM) is responsible for the overall management, financial success, and strategic direction of the district. This includes oversight of all managers, staff, and personnel, setting local strategy, and ensuring the goals and vision of the organization are communicated and followed. The DGM leads daily operations, manages budgets, drives revenue growth, and fosters a culture of safety, engagement, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate considers themself to be a “working manager” who is comfortable in a hands-on role where they will assist on the warehouse floor or during deliveries as needed.

This is an onsite position performed from the CORT offices and distribution centers. 

Pay: Base salary between $90,000 - $110,000 with management bonus opportunity. 

Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends, is required.

Responsibilities
  • Direct Daily Operations: Oversee district operations, analyze workflow, establish priorities, develop standards, and set deadlines to ensure efficient and effective performance.
  • Strategic Planning: Translate company objectives into district-level strategies, develop actionable plans, and ensure alignment across departments to drive measurable outcomes.
  • Staff Management & Development: Schedule, plan, and facilitate staff meetings; coach, hire, train, and develop managers and frontline staff; address performance issues and disciplinary actions.
  • Financial Management: Manage departmental budgets and expenses, oversee district P&L, forecasting, and financial reporting; monitor finances and control costs.
  • Inventory & Asset Control: Lead inventory management efforts, ensure cycle count compliance, maintain inventory accuracy, and support asset control initiatives.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and local/national regulations; foster a safety-first culture and oversee safety meetings and training.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Relations: Maintain strong customer relationships, resolve escalated issues, and collaborate with sales, contractors, and internal departments to achieve business goals.
  • Show & Event Planning: Represent the district at trade shows and events, plan for upcoming shows, and ensure show site presence and contractor/client interactions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor productivity, work quality, and key performance indicators (KPIs); implement continuous improvement projects and strategies.
  • District Culture & Engagement: Develop and promote district culture and engagement initiatives to maintain positive morale and support business objectives.
  • Hands on Leadership: Support or fulfill warehouse functions, assist on warehouse floor or at deliveries as needed; which could involve handling product, operating equipment, or driving a box truck. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations management of a similar size team/business required.
  • Experience managing P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and sales preferred.
  • Willing to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
