Job Overview:
District Manager is responsible for managing sales, store operations, controlling expenses and payroll budgets, handling personnel issues, accounting, merchandising, and loss prevention. District Managers are also responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout the stores. A District Manager is a role model and leader and must solve problems, make informed decisions, and manage the workforce and time wisely to achieve maximum results.
Purpose of Position:
Contribute to the overall success of the Byrne Dairy Stores by performing all assigned duties in a professional, timely and accurate manner. Hiring well qualified managers and developing existing managers. Enforce all company safety policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook. The district manager supervises all staff in the district. Supervisory responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, selecting staff and hiring; making effective recommendations regarding promotions, properly handle corrective discipline for unsatisfactory employees.

  • Assist in the recruitment and hiring of the most qualified managers to meet the district's needs.
  • Develop and coach the management staff in execution of daily tasks and maximize sales.
  • Participate in administering company policies and developing long range goals and objectives.
  • Review operational reports and records to ensure adherence to Company policies and procedures, monitor store profitability, and manage payroll budgets.
  • Ensure that proper channels of communication exist between the stores and corporate office.
  • Oversee compliance of Store Managers with established Company policies and standards, such as safekeeping of Company funds and property, personnel practices, security, sales, and record keeping procedures, and overall maintenance of the stores by performing required audits.
  • Help solve problems that affect the store service, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Any other tasks as assigned from time to time.
  • This year / last year sales growth and this year / last year gross profit. Drive retail sales through all means available. Ensure stores sales goals are being met.

Requirements:
Skills / Ability to:
  • Ability to develop and train work force, build relationships, utilize skills of workforce most appropriately.
  • Ability to merchandise and manage store operations effectively.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to maintain a fair, consistent set of standards as they apply to the workforce.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management preferred
  • Experience with managing multi units
  • Experience in the Convenience Store industry
  • Leadership skills and a strong will to succeed
  • Minimum 5 years retail experience
  • Minimum 5 years retail management experience
  • Minimum 3 year excelled leadership and Customer Service abilities
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Must have at time of hire, and maintain throughout employment, a valid NYS Driver's License free of major infractions
