Distributor Development Manager information

What is a distributor development manager?

Distributor Development Managers are professionals responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with distributors to drive sales growth and market expansion. They identify potential distributors, provide training and support, and monitor performance to ensure alignment with company goals. Their role often involves developing sales strategies, negotiating contracts, and analyzing market trends to optimize distribution channels. By fostering partnerships and ensuring effective communication, they help maximize product reach and business success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a distributor development manager?

To thrive as a Distributor Development Manager, you need expertise in sales management, channel development, and market analysis, often supported by a bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Proficiency with CRM systems, sales analytics tools, and distribution management software is typically required. Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills help foster long-term partnerships and drive distributor performance. These competencies are essential to maximize distribution efficiency, expand market reach, and achieve business growth targets.

How does a distributor development manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to support distributor growth?

As a Distributor Development Manager, you will frequently work with cross-functional teams such as sales, marketing, supply chain, and customer support to drive distributor performance. This collaboration involves sharing market insights, aligning promotional strategies, coordinating inventory and logistics support, and ensuring consistent messaging to partners. Regular meetings and joint planning sessions are common, allowing you to leverage the expertise of each department and deliver comprehensive solutions to distributors. This teamwork enhances distributor engagement and helps achieve growth targets more efficiently.

Job description

Overview

PACE Supply is seeking a Learning & Development Manager to join our Team!Ready to shape the future of learning at a thriving, employee-owned company? At PACE Supply, weโ€™re more than a leading wholesale distributor of plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and water solutions โ€” weโ€™re a team of 1,600+ employee-owners who believe that when our people grow, our business soars. Now weโ€™re looking for a passionate Learning & Development Manager to ignite that growth across our corporate teams, branches, and operations. In this high-impact role, youโ€™ll design and deliver powerful learning experiences that turn operational expertise into everyday excellence. From leadership development and high-energy onboarding to scalable technical training and LMS mastery, you will partner closely with Operations, EHS, and leaders at every level to create practical, consistent, and inspiring learning solutions that drive real results. You will be the strategic force behind a culture of continuous learning โ€” identifying needs, measuring impact, and building programs that help supervisors, managers, counter sales pros, warehouse teams, and future leaders thrive. If youโ€™re energized by translating business priorities into engaging learning journeys and love seeing people level up, this is your chance to make a lasting mark at a company that invests in its own.

Why Join PACE Supply?

As an employee-owner, you will share in the success of the company through our;

  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • Enjoy a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and more)

We foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, strong work ethic, and genuine care for our people and customers. Join us and help every employee-owner reach their full potential โ€” because at PACE, when you grow, we all win.

  • Conduct training needs assessments across corporate, divisional, and branch levels.
  • Design scalable learning programs (instructor-led, virtual, blended, and self-paced).
  • Create competency models, career pathways, and curricula for operational, technical, sales, and leadership roles.
  • Maintain the training catalog and annual learning calendar.
Branch & Operations Training Support
  • Partner with branch and operations leadership to identify and address frontline training needs.
  • Develop and deliver technical product, systems, warehouse, counter, sales (account manager & counter sales), and job-specific training.
  • Build and manage train-the-trainer programs to support consistent delivery across locations.
  • Support new-hire onboarding and ramp-up at the branch level.
Leadership Development & Talent Growth
  • Design and facilitate leadership development programs for supervisors and managers.
  • Support succession planning through targeted learning pathways.
  • Provide coaching and consultation to leaders on employee development.

  • Administer the Learning Management System, including assignments, tracking, reporting, and documentation.
  • Partner with the EHS Manager to support the coordination, delivery, and LMS tracking of EHS-led safety and compliance training (EHS retains ownership of content, regulatory requirements, and compliance oversight).
  • Coordinate with other functional leaders and subject-matter experts to support company-wide training initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with external training providers, consultants, and manufacturers as appropriate.
Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement
  • Evaluate training effectiveness using feedback, assessments, and business metrics.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs for learning impact and ROI.
  • Continuously improve content, delivery methods, and programs based on data.
Leadership, Administration & Project Management
  • Manage the Learning & Development budget.
  • Build strong partnerships with executive, divisional, and branch leadership.
  • Manage multiple projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Instructional Design, Business, or a related field (Masterโ€™s preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive Learning & Development experience, ideally in a multi-location wholesale, distribution, manufacturing, or operations-focused environment.
  • Proven track record designing, delivering, and evaluating leadership, technical, sales, onboarding, and operations training programs.
  • Handsโ€‘on experience administering a Learning Management System (LMS), including course assignments, tracking, reporting, and compliance documentation.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, stakeholder management, and project management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to branch locations as needed.
