ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world's greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief Western Washington is seeking a Vision & Call Intern. As interns, you will play a pivotal role in supporting refugee clients and their families as they navigate the resettlement process. From assisting case workers with transportation to vital appointments, to providing guidance on accessing community resources and advocating for client needs, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of services areas aimed at fostering holistic self-sufficiency for refugee individuals and families.
If you are interested in walking alongside refugees and other immigrants while exploring your own personal and professional growth, then our Vision & Call Intern program at World Relief Western Washington is for you! Through a holistic internship experience rooted in Christian values and leadership principles, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, engage in reflective discussions, and receive mentorship from experienced leaders in the humanitarian field.
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until February 26, 2027, and contingent upon funding extension.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsibilities May Include:
  • Assist Case Workers with transporting refugee clients to important appointments.
  • Help newly arrived families with tasks such as applying for employment, enrolling children in school, moving into more permanent housing, or getting a state ID.
  • Assist with ESL classes.
  • Practice English with refugees and help them adjust to American culture.
  • Help refugees and other immigrants navigate relevant social systems including but not limited to: grocery shopping, using public transportation, balancing a checkbook, creating a bank account, etc.
  • Work with staff to advocate for clients and connect them to community resources such as child care, libraries, or employment opportunities.
  • Fostering Mutually Transformative Relationships with refugee families.
  • Taking part in an intern project designed to enhance our programs' effectiveness.
  • Other related tasks may be assigned depending on organizational needs and each intern's interests.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
  • Cross-cultural experience and/or a desire to learn more about cultural humility.
  • Genuine passion for serving refugees and other immigrants.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team.
  • Willingness to engage in reflective practices and personal growth opportunities.
  • Openness to learning and exploring new perspectives.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to participate in the Vision & Call Conference.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
  • Must complete a Criminal Background Check, and Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Current driver's license required. Access to a vehicle is helpful.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of secondary languages is beneficial
  • A valid US driver's license
  • Commitment to 9 months toward gaining valuable experience and contributing to our mission.

$19.13 - $19.13 an hour
