Job description

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Special Needs Ministry Coordinator provides administrative and organizational support for the Special Needs Ministry at Grace Church. This role assists the Director with coordinating ministry programs, maintaining communication with families and volunteers, organizing schedules and records, supporting volunteer onboarding, and helping ensure ministry events and activities are carried out effectively. 

Support the day-to-day programming and events within the Special Needs Ministries:

  • Engagement and connection of families affected by disabilities within larger church body.
  • Be available to assist on Sunday mornings with various needs, including greeting and support. 
  • Maintain communication between the Kids Department Inclusion Coordinator and Special Needs Director.
  • Coordinate classroom and meeting arrangements: schedule rooms for classes, special meetings, events, and other room needs as requested by utilizing CCB software and coordinating with other departments.
  • Provide oversight and implementation for Special Needs Respite Nights and other Special needs events, including Special Needs Vacation Bible School, Special Mom’s Day Away, etc.
  • Update tracking reports regarding Sunday programming and event attendance.
  • Coordinate catering for events such as the summer bash, family worship Sundays, monthly mom’s support groups, etc.
  • Provide phone and email coverage: screen and manage incoming calls and emails. Follow up in a timely manner, providing information regarding meetings, leaders, resources, etc. 
  • Communicates with Communication department coordinator for Special Needs Ministry to update website, social media, monthly newsletter and digital content.
  • Manages the budget and process check requisitions.
  • Manage the registration of Special Needs Ministry events, attendees, and volunteers; database information, including merging duplicate records, and updates, etc.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Special Needs Ministry.

PROFESSIONAL AND SPIRITUAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Education preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Experience required: 2+ years of successful ministry or project management experience; may include volunteer experience.
  • Strong ability to learn and work with various software packages, strong data management abilities.
  • Takes initiative, solves problems with little oversight, and resolves conflict in a Christ-like manner.
  • Exhibits a meaningful and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as evidenced by the manifestation of the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
  • Has a commitment to personal and active participation in the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 18-20).
  • Exhibits a lifestyle appropriate to a person in public Christian ministry by conducting life with the utmost integrity in all situations.
  • Consistent attendance and participation in Grace Church and involvement in the life of the church.
