Job description

Title: Director/Pastor of Family Ministry (Birth-12th Grade)
Status: Full-time, salary, exempt, ministry staff
Location: Onsite
Purpose: The Family Pastor/Director provides:
  • Leadership of Calvary Kids, Student Ministries and Disability Ministry staff
  • Collaboration in developing a unified discipleship pathway for kids and students
  • Oversight in building a parent partnership philosophy and a sustainable plan to support parents as the primary disciplers of their children and students

Working Relationship:
  • A member of the Ministry Staff who is accountable to the Board of Elders through the Senior Pastor and serves under the direct supervision of the Pastor of Ministries. This role provides direct oversight to the Director of Student Ministry, Calvary Kids staff, Disability Ministry staff and coordination roles, and assigned key volunteer team leads

Qualifications
  • A growing relationship with Jesus Christ, a shepherd's heart, servant leader and a commitment to Calvary Church's mission and values
  • Proven experience leading children's ministry, student ministry or family ministry, ideally in a multi-staff church context
  • Demonstrated strength in building volunteer teams, creating ministry systems, and leading healthy culture
  • Ability to think strategically (pathway + outcomes) and execute practically (weekend ministry + volunteers)
  • Strong communication skills with parents, volunteers, and staff
  • Emotional maturity, collaborative leadership style, and ability to align multiple teams without controlling them

Values and Beliefs
  • Must be a professing Christian who affirms the Calvary Church doctrinal basis, vision and values and philosophy of ministry
  • Must regularly attend and participate at Calvary Church

Key responsibilities
A. Establish a Clear Operating Model for Family Ministries
  • Solidify and Align the Birth-12 Discipleship Pathway
    • Collaborate with the Director of Student Ministry and Director of Child Discipleship to align priorities, language, and annual planning rhythms
    • Lead development of a unified Birth-12 discipleship pathway that clarifies key beliefs, practices, relationships and milestones and aligns teaching so that kids and students experience a consistent discipleship approach from birth thru graduation
    • Define shared elements such as discipleship outcomes, calendar coordination, parent strategy, volunteer standards, communication rhythms, and transition processes
  • Equip and Partner with Parents as Primary Disciplers
    • Clarify, communicate, and implement Calvary's philosophy of equipping parents as the primary disciplers of their children and students in coordination with each department
  • Integrate Family Ministries with the broader mission of Calvary Church

B. Lead and Develop
  • Calvary Kids Birth-6th grade Ministries (primary day-to-day leadership)
    • Provide spiritual and operational leadership for Calvary Kids staff (Birth-6th).
    • Oversee the CK staff who seek to maintain healthy teams of volunteers and leaders: recruiting, training, scheduling, care, and appreciation
    • Ensure environments are safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate, including classroom standards, check-in systems, and child protection practices
    • Oversee ministry planning, calendar coordination, and program evaluation
    • Ensure that curriculum and teaching environments are developmentally appropriate, engaging, gospel-centered, and faithful to Scripture, with God at the center and his attributes highlighted
    • Practice wise stewardship of curriculum, time, and volunteers to ensure healthy, sustainable ministry outcomes while maintaining flexibility in how ministry goals are achieved
  • Calvary Student Ministry (7th-12th grade Ministries)
    • Oversee CSM through the coaching support, and development of the Director of Student Ministry and other key leaders. Ensuring that the ministry is aligned with Calvary's mission and values
    • Develop leaders (staff and volunteer) through regular check-ins, clear expectations, and encouragement
    • Foster a culture marked by humility, clarity, collaboration, and spiritual health
  • Disability Ministry
    • Oversee Disability Ministry through the coaching, support, and development of the Director of Disability Ministry and other key leaders. Ensuring that the ministry is aligned with Calvary's mission and values
    • Assist and support Disability Ministry in integrating well across all areas of ministry and partnering effectively with ministry leaders, teams, and environments throughout the church

General Ministry Staff Responsibilities
  • Strive to uphold the Staff Commitment
  • In conjunction with Calvary Kids, Student Ministries, and disability ministry collaborate with the other teams connected to parents and students in developing goals, budgets, reports, and evaluations as requested by Supervisor, Senior Pastor, or Elders
  • Stay current in cultural and biblical skills through professional development
  • Maintain a regular schedule balancing time with people, study of God's Word, prayer for the ministry of Calvary Church and administrative tasks
  • Participate in staff meetings and events, ministry planning cycles, and leadership rhythms as assigned
  • Pray for the ministries of the church & serve in other areas as requested by the Senior Pastor

Physical and Mental Requirements
Requires light physical activity, including lifting 10-20 lbs., sitting, prolonged standing, reaching, climbing, occasional outdoor work in varying weather, and extended use of office technology. Must possess strong creative thinking, conceptual, collaboration, and listening skills, along with the ability to present ideas and receive feedback (both positive and negative) that may lead to their adoption, adaptation, or elimination
