Job description

JOB SUMMARY
The 2nd & 3rd Grade Ministry Coordinator will be the primary leader who makes our weekly ministries happen for the 2nd & 3rd grade kids. This role will plan and prepare the environment for this age group to experience the love of Jesus Christ through weekly gatherings and groups. In addition, the 2nd & 3rd Grade Ministry Coordinator will recruit, train, and empower volunteers to minister to the children.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise/Oversee all aspects of the Kids ministry program during weekend service hours
  • Build relationships and consistently encourage and pray for parents, children, and volunteers connected to the ministry
  • Responsible for all Kids ministry areas, ensuring cleanliness, order, safety, and security of all rooms, equipment, and supplies
  • Communicate on behalf of the 2nd & 3rd grade ministry with visitors, parents, children, and other ministry departments.
  • Create and maintain all volunteer rosters and schedules and communicate with volunteers as needed
  • Maintain accurate class rosters and family information in database
  • Ability to regularly fulfill all ministry roles within Kids ministry, and willingness to cover responsibilities in other areas of the Kids ministry as needed
  • Oversee the purchase/acquisition of supplies specific for Kids ministry.
  • Assist with overall children's ministry functions and special events through planning and attendance as needed, including but not limited to VBS
  • Attend monthly Staff Praise and Prayer, and weekly Elementary staff meetings
  • Train and manage paid staff for the 2nd & 3rd grade ministry
  • Participate in training programs, courses and/or other aspects of professional growth as approved or directed by the Early Elementary Director
  • Teach bible lessons in large group setting during Chapel time
  • Other duties as assign

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position (40 hours). Flexible schedule available for weekday office hours Monday - Wednesday. Weekend services are a required part of this job's scheduled hours.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:
  • Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to move about inside the office and storage rooms to perform a variety of tasks
  • Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 30 pounds and/or push/pull objects up to 100 pounds
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, and lifting children up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • At least 2 years of work experience in volunteer development role
  • Experience and knowledge working with Elementary-age children

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Duties are performed in an office setting as well as in a public service environment where the work and general environment may be fast-paced and hectic at times. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple projects in service-oriented environment. Environmental noise levels are minimal.
