Position Summary

The Operations Manager is a programmatic position that reports to the Director of Operations and works on the Operations team to help execute the organizationโ€™s goals. The Operations Manager leads operational projects, oversees processes and systems related to contracts, state operations, events and travel management systems, and otherwise supports the work of the Operations Department with a strong emphasis on the travel and events portfolios. Critical for success is an interest in the mission of the DNC, strong sense of personal initiative, respect for the sensitivity and confidentiality of information, and the ability to balance multiple tasks. Additionally, the Operations Manager works closely with the entire Operations team (including Human Resources), Political, Building Facilities, Accounting, and IT Teams.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with handsโ€‘on, inโ€‘person operations support to ensure the daily building operations run smoothly and the organization as a whole has what it needs to succeed
  • Assist in the following team responsibilities: vendor management, research, and bill reconciliation; coordinating travel and supporting staff with travel needs for large events; DNC insurance renewal and ongoing insurance needs; and DNC contracting process.
  • Build and test new and existing systems and processes to streamline and identify opportunities for cost savings, technology integration, and innovation to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the operations teamโ€™s workstreams.
  • Coordinate logistical components of DNC hosted events, from preโ€‘event planning to onโ€‘the ground execution including room setup, coordination of technological components (e.g., A/V, conferencing tools), onโ€‘site support during events, and postโ€‘event breakdown.
  • Lead the DNC Travel Program to include planning and coordinating travel arrangements (flights, accommodations, ground transportation, and other logistical needs for those traveling on behalf of the DNC), developing and managing travel budgets, negotiating contracts with vendors and being on call for troubleshooting realโ€‘time travel needs.
  • Support Front Desk Operations for the DNC including managing the organizationโ€‘wide phone system, facilitating meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and coordinating usage of conference rooms throughout the building.
  • Collaborate across the Operations department to ensure that all team projects have support.
  • Oversee special projects at the discretion of the COO, Deputy COO and Director of Operations; Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree or 4 years of experience in an office environment.
  • 1โ€‘3 years of experience in operations, administration, project management, or a related role; political or nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Experience providing handsโ€‘on operational support (event execution, meeting setup, etc.).
  • Comfortable working across multiple software platforms.
  • Based in or willing to move to Washington, DC.
Travel

The Operations Manager position will require travel, which could be up to 15% of the time.

Salary

The starting salary for the Operations Manager position is $66,950.00, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This is a fullโ€‘time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends. This position is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU Localโ€‘500.
