Job Summary
Provides leadership and operational oversight of a thriving Learning Center, serving as a Center of Excellence to ensure exceptional resources and experiences to inspire, inform, and enrich learning. Serves as the operational director driving the continuous improvement of the learning center, leading the planning and design for a dynamic environment that supports and fosters academic competence, problem-solving, innovation, and creativity, grounded in an oiwi perspective within a global context. This role provides visionary leadership and project management expertise to develop and maintain a world-class learning center that enhances teaching, learning, and collaboration, while managing staff, resources, and budget to ensure the center supports student success and aligns with campus goals and initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
Vision, Strategy, Planning, and Execution
Develop and provide strategic vision and direction for integrated and innovative library and learning services to enhance and support the curriculum, instruction, and student success.
Collaborate with school leadership and stakeholders to design a future-ready learning center that incorporates cutting-edge technology, flexible learning spaces, and innovative resources aligned with the school's educational goals.
Lead focus groups with faculty, students, and other stakeholders to ensure the new resource center meets the evolving needs of the school community.
Provide regular progress updates, strategic recommendations, and key milestone reports to Campus Leadership.
Create and maintain a robust online presence for the learning center, showcasing its offerings and encouraging engagement.
Recruit, train, and supervise learning center staff, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation that supports the center's vision.
Cultivate a collaborative and innovative environment within the learning center, establishing it as a dynamic hub for learning, creativity, and student engagement.
Advocate for the learning center's resources and services, promoting its value to students, staff, parents, and the broader school community.
Learning Center Development and Optimization
Plan and manage continuous enhancements of learning center resources, technology, and services, ensuring minimal disruption to school activities, events and staff or student needs.
Research and integrate trends in educational technology, library sciences, and collaborative spaces into the learning center's design to support modern teaching and learning.
Design and implement programs that seamlessly integrate media and technology into the curriculum, enhancing both teaching practices and student learning experiences
Foster a proactive environment prioritizing service, communication, and outreach to students, faculty, and staff, providing instruction, reference, and liaison services to support student success and faculty development.
Ensure the library's collections, discovery tools, Open Educational Resources (OER), and services support the teaching, learning, and research needs of students, faculty, and staff.
Promote the learning center as a resource for professional development, encouraging faculty and staff to utilize it for enhancing their skills and instructional methods.
Operational Oversight
Oversee the efficient management of learning resources, including operations, budget, and staff supervision.
Oversee fiscal management and ensure best practices in the library acquisition and collections workflow, from evaluation and selection to licensing, contract negotiation, receipt, payment, cataloging, and recordkeeping.
Apply and support best practices in education and library services to enhance overall effectiveness and resource accessibility.
Serves as primary contact for copyright and fair use information for students, faculty, and staff.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
Master's degree in Education, Library Science, Educational Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in educational administration or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.
Knowledge of current educational principles and practices, including AASL's Standards for 21st Century Learners and NETS-S technology standards.
Proven experience with facility planning, project management, or leading transitions in a similar environment.
Strong understanding of emerging trends in educational technology, library science, and learning center design.
Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in demanding work environment and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple functions and priorities in an efficient manner.
Excellent communication skills (oral, verbal and written) to all levels of management, faculty, staff, external agencies, alumni, students, parents, and other school staff and community resource representatives.
Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and lead strategic planning initiatives.
Proficiency in budget management, staff supervision, and program development.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a K-12 educational environment, particularly in a leadership capacity.
Certification in project management or a related discipline.
Experience and/or understanding of Hawaiian Cultural Based Education (HCBE) & E Ola framework.
Clear understanding of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs by Solution Tree).
Demonstrated success in integrating technology and multimedia resources into academic programs.
Familiarity with needs and resources for schools and communities.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to Hawaiian culture and Christian values.
Physical Requirements
Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

Working Conditions (including environmental conditions)
Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but may be conducted in evenings and weekends, as necessary.
