Northern Nevada Medical Center is a 124-bed acute care hospital located on 23 hillside acres at 2375 E. Prater Way in Sparks, Nevada.

Job Summary: This Cook position is fulltimet time, offers full benefits and a convenient evening shift schedule. This dynamic individual will be under the direct supervision of the Food & Nutrition Services Director, Supervisor, or Lead, the cook performs a variety of patient food service and dish duties. The cook will prepare appropriate food items for hospital patients, staff, and visitors according to recipes.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Determines types and quantities of all foods to be prepared by reviewing planned menus and printed tallies.
  • Determines foods/supplies/equipment that are low in supply and uses list to communicate to Director/Supervisor. Also assists in putting foods/supplies away appropriately in designated storage area after delivery.
  • Prepares all foods according to approved recipes and to suitable appearance standards while using garnishes when appropriate
  • Ensures meals are ready at specified times and consults with director/supervisor regarding use of leftover food.

Job Requirements for Cook:
  • One to three (1-3) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred within 6 months of hire.
