Summary
The student will assistant the Office of Student Engagement and Success with greeting visitors, answering Student Engagement Phone lines, direct guests to appropriate meeting locations. Student assistant will provide support to staff members by completing assigned task and or special projects. The position of the student assistant requires individuals who are knowledgeable about BGSU campus as well and have a professional office demeanor.

Essential Functions
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for office visitors and communicate with students, parents, alumni, and other campus constituents of BGSU.
  • Answer telephone calls.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of activities and work within the office.
  • Be competently skilled in computer usage.
  • Distribute mail/sign for packages.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • Understand and abide by the policies of BGSU and the Office of Student Engagement.
  • Complete any other assignments as directed.

  • Have general knowledge of BGSU resources, programs, and services.

Additional Information
The Student Assistant for Student Engagement is a student staff position that assists in the daily operation Student Engagement & Success. The student assistant works under the supervision of the Public Relations & Administrative supervisor and performs a variety of clerical tasks such as answering and directing phone calls, communicating with BGSU students, faculty, staff & guests both in person and via email, managing incoming & outgoing mail & logging into system, filing, scanning, and organizing documents, photocopying & printing documents, relaying messages between visitors & callers & staff, general office support for staff, or running small errands on campus. The ideal student will have the ability to work well despite frequent interruptions, have exceptionally friendly & professional customer service skills. Scheduling will be done around student's class schedule and students may have the opportunity to start before the semester begins.
  • Business hours worked will be between 8-5pm Monday-Friday
  • Please provide cover letter which should include availability to work
  • Must have 2.7 GPA average.
