Job description

Are you ready to lead transformational change, align strategy with execution, and help shape the future of a company built on humility, craftsmanship, and innovation?

At Fieldpiece, we’re not just delivering tools - we’re empowering HVACR professionals to excel every day. We’re seeking a Director, Strategy to act as the Chief of Staff for the executive leadership team and drive strategic planning and execution across the organization.

This is not a role for someone who leads from the sidelines. We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on leader who can facilitate executive-level strategy deployment discussions just as effectively as they can lead a Kaizen event on the frontlines. You’ll play a critical role in helping Fieldpiece align priorities, execute strategic initiatives, and embed continuous improvement principles into how we work every day.

Fieldpiece builds rugged, innovative tools that HVACR professionals rely on every day - from smart manifolds and leak detectors to connected platforms that are transforming the HVACR industry.  Recognized as one of Southern California’s Best Places to Work in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026, Fieldpiece offers a collaborative, growth-oriented culture where your work directly impacts real-world professionals and rapidly evolving technology.  We offer excellent benefits, a Hire-to-Retire philosophy, hybrid work schedule, and a culture of collaboration, curiosity and innovation.

This position is in our current Park City, UT location with an exciting move to a new office in Heber City, UT in mid-2027.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in strategic planning, strategy deployment (Hoshin Kanri/Policy Deployment), and competitive benchmarking methodologies. You understand how to translate business objectives into actionable plans, create organizational alignment, and drive measurable results through lean thinking and disciplined execution. You are a master communicator with an executive presence and the ability to create presentations for a variety of purposes.  You’ll influence and coach teams to ensure corporate goals cascade to the organization and ensure teams are delivering to meet objectives.  If you thrive in environments where challenges are embraced, collaboration is essential, and continuous learning is expected—this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Strategic Planning & Deployment: Facilitate enterprise strategic planning processes, including Policy Deployment/Hoshin Kanri, to align organizational priorities, initiatives, and measurable outcomes across the business.
  • Drive Organizational Alignment: Partner with executive and functional leaders to connect long-term business strategy with operational execution, creating clarity, accountability, and focus across teams. Sit in on L1 and L2 reviews and provide guidance and feedback to improve the transition from strategy to results.
  • Manage Fieldpiece’s Annual Strategy Planning Process: Plan and execute quarterly “war-gaming” and scenario planning activities, manage the leadership team’s quarterly offsite materials, manage the annual process and facilitate BOD strategy committee meetings quarterly.
  • Prepare Board Reports: Prepare quarterly reports in collaboration with the leadership team to review the L1 and L2 strategy deployment matrixes.
  • Facilitate Kaizen & Strategy Workshops: Plan and lead Kaizen events, strategic reviews, and problem-solving sessions that align with company goals, operational KPIs/TTIs, and customer value creation.
  • Develop Organizational Capability: Build and sustain training and certification programs that strengthen strategic thinking, and leadership effectiveness across the organization as it relates to strategic thinking, and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Enable Data-Driven Decisions: Champion the Strategy Deployment framework to track strategic priorities, monitor KPIs, analyze performance trends, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Deliver Measurable Results: Ensure initiatives are executed effectively, completed on time, and drive meaningful business impact through disciplined execution and accountability.
  • Foster a Culture of Innovation & Learning: Inspire teams to challenge the status quo, embrace experimentation, and continuously improve how we develop products, solve problems, and serve customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field preferred); MBA, PMP, or equivalent advanced certification is a plus.
  • 8–10+ years of leadership experience in strategic planning, strategy deployment, or chief of staff roles.
  • Strong expertise in strategic planning and deployment methodologies, including Hoshin Kanri/Policy Deployment, KPI management, and organizational alignment practices.
  • Deep knowledge of continuous improvement and lean business system tools, including Value Stream Mapping, Daily Management, Standard Work, A3 Thinking, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience leading cross-functional strategic initiatives and driving organizational change in complex or growing environments.
  • Proven ability to connect long-term business strategy with operational execution and measurable business outcomes.
  • Familiarity with established operating systems such as Danaher Business System, Fortive Business System, Toyota Production System, or equivalent lean enterprise models.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with experience leading executive-level planning discussions and frontline improvement activities.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret complex information, develop actionable insights, and simplify metrics for decision-making.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% overnight

Why Join Fieldpiece?

  • Competitive compensation and bonus opportunity

  • Matching 401(k) up to 4% with immediate vesting

  • Excellent medical benefits including HSA options and company contributions

  • Career development and “Hire-to-Retire” philosophy

  • Collaborative, highly innovative culture

  • Employee Assistance Program, disability coverage, supplemental life insurance, and more...

  • A company that values curiosity, trust, humility, and continuous improvement

With humility, we value and pursue ideas and feedback from everyone.
