To thrive as a Director of Solutions, you need a deep understanding of business strategy, solution architecture, and industry-specific knowledge, often backed by a relevant bachelor's or master's degree. Familiarity with CRM/ERP platforms, cloud computing tools, and certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect or PMP are commonly expected. Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills distinguish top performers in this role. These abilities are vital for aligning technology solutions with business goals, leading cross-functional teams, and driving organizational growth.

Job description

About Us:
YipitData is the leading market research and analytics firm for the disruptive economy and most recently raised $475M from The Carlyle Group at a valuation of over $1B. Every day, our proprietary technology analyzes billions of alternative data points to uncover actionable insights across sectors like software, AI, cloud, e-commerce, ridesharing, and payments.
Our data and research teams transform raw data into strategic intelligence, delivering accurate, timely, and deeply contextualized analysis that our customers-ranging from the world's top investment funds to Fortune 500 companies-depend on to drive high-stakes decisions. From sourcing and licensing novel datasets to rigorous analysis and expert narrative framing, our teams ensure clients get not just data, but clarity and confidence.
We operate globally with offices in the US (NYC, Austin, Miami, Mountain View), APAC (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Singapore), and India. Our award-winning, people-centric culture-recognized by Inc. as a Best Workplace for three consecutive years-emphasizes transparency, ownership, and continuous mastery.
About the Role:
YipitData Solutions is your client's institutional data partner, turning YipitData's proprietary data and infrastructure into your firm's private advantage.
Syndicated research often covers the "core," but many clients' edge lives outside the core (niche, proprietary theses; uncovered names) and teams are frequently resource constrained (limited time and internal data capacity). Solutions extend an investment team's capabilities by providing technical execution for theses, on-demand access to our dataset library + analyst bench, and infrastructure to move faster and go deeper.
We're looking for a team lead to run and scale Solutions: a client-facing team delivering bespoke analysis and data products ranging from simple data pulls and aggregations to custom web scrapes, deep-dive diligence, and ongoing data feeds built to spec.
This role reports to the Head of Public Investor Product and will work closely with Revenue, Research, Data Engineering, Application and Partnerships to scope, deliver, and grow Solutions engagements.
This role is remote-friendly and can be based in NYC, one of our hubs in Austin, Miami, Los Angeles (CA), and Cupertino (CA), or anywhere in the US. We offer NYC-based salaries for all US roles, regardless of location.
As Associate Director, YipitData Solutions, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Own the Solutions client experience from discovery to delivery
    • The ask, define success criteria, and translate investment theses into concrete deliverables and timelines
    • Set expectations early and clearly (scope, feasibility, methodology, tradeoffs), and ensure deadlines are hit
    • Lead discovery with prospects and clients to uncover the "real question" behind
  • Partner with Revenue to drive Solutions growth (commercial + scoping)
    • Support client conversations by articulating Solutions' value: technical execution + on-demand library access + proprietary infrastructure
    • Help package and scope engagements across commercial models (ad hoc credit-based work vs. dedicated "full partnership" resourcing)
  • Lead a high-performing delivery team
    • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of data/insights analysts executing incoming and recurring projects
    • Establish quality bars for analytical rigor, reproducibility, and "client-ready" outputs (clean narratives + clear assumptions + defensible methods)
  • Deliver bespoke outputs across the full YipitData library
    • Leverage (and help clients navigate) a broad set of dataset types-e.g., email receipt panels, transaction data, software spend, web traffic, app data, web-scraped data, connected accounts, healthcare purchasing, and targeted interviews
    • Drive delivery across one-off deep dives and ongoing feeds (examples include market share files, targeted interviews, custom scrapers, and recurring deliveries built to client specifications)
  • Build the "operating system" for Solutions
    • Define best practices for intake, scoping, project management, QA, and reuse (templates, playbooks, repeatable pipelines)
    • Improve capacity planning, prioritization, and visibility across the Solutions pipeline
  • Leverage AI to scale Solutions delivery and increase capacity
    • Identify and implement AI-enabled workflows (e.g., assisted scoping, faster data QA, automated recurring deliverables, narrative drafting) to improve turnaround times, consistency, and team throughput while maintaining a high quality bar
  • Build reusable, AI-assisted "solution kits" and automation for repeatable work
    • Develop templates, playbooks, and lightweight automation (prompt libraries, reusable code modules, standardized pipelines) that reduce manual effort across common Solutions requests and enable the team to deliver more projects per analyst without sacrificing rigor or client readiness

You Are Likely To Succeed If:
  • Have 5+ years of experience using alternative data to answer high-impact questions, plus 1-2 years of people leadership (or clear examples of leading teams/projects).
  • Have worked directly with end clients and can consistently uncover the underlying need behind the request.
  • Have experience with, and a strong interest in, leveraging AI to enhance ETL, data pipelines, and analytical workflows.
  • Are comfortable with SQL and Python, and have experience building/maintaining production-grade workflows (Databricks/Spark/GitHub familiarity a plus).
  • Have strong experience working with large, messy, evolving datasets-especially where definitions/taxonomies change.
  • Bring strong commercial instincts: you can partner with Revenue to scope work cleanly and deliver an excellent, repeatable client experience.
  • Preferred: exposure to institutional investor workflows and stakeholders (fundamental analysts and/or data teams).
