Job description

The Director Security develops, implements, and maintains policies and programs to ensure physical safety of the property's guests, employees, property and assets; complies with New York State Gaming Commission security requirements and casino internal controls.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direction to ensure safety of our guests and team members through observing, reporting, and taking action.
  • Provide strategic direction for the day-to-day operation of the Security team and be a liaison of information from executives to officers.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure the protection of all company assets.
  • Review Security management and officer reports to ensure all pertinent information is included.
  • Ensure daily shift briefings communicate accurate information for officers.
  • Review daily Activity Log containing information of activities that occurred on shift.
  • Be observant in all areas inside/outside of the property for safety concerns or suspicious circumstances.
  • Conduct training courses to ensure officers are current on security tactics as needed.
  • Use good judgment, reason, and a calm demeanor when approaching a disgruntled individual. In the event of a confrontation, separate the involved persons without getting hurt or escalating the situation.
  • Complete investigations, interviews, and subsequent reports by asking questions pertinent to the situation such as: who, what, where, why, how, etc. in order to gather sufficient details to thoroughly satisfy investigation/report requirements. Use a computer report writing system to complete reports, and be able to follow up on any given report.
  • Responsible for the identification and immediate notification to supervisors of any persons who requires exclusion or ejection from the facility.
  • Develops and implements Security departmental budget.
  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and enforcement of a system for the issuance of temporary access credentials.
  • Good communications skills and professionalism are required when dealing and cooperating with outside agencies such as NYPD, FDNY, FBI, USSS, and governmental officials.
  • Ability to work with interruptions and to perform multiple tasks while remaining collected in high-pressure situations.
  • Respond to suspicious, unusual or emergency situations using the appropriate escalation of force up to and including armed response by following established protocols.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations in a calm, professional manner. Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Excellent time management, problem solving and organizational skills are necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Essential functions include frequent walking though out casino and grounds. Occasional standing, bending, squat, balance, kneel, reaching overhead up to 6ft, crouching, climbing and lifting/carrying to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced casino environment and effectively deal with guests, management, team members, and others. Requires the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols; perform tasks, reading, writing and math skills; and compile, coordinate and analyze information quickly. Supervise and instruct others, follow instructions, use independent judgment when necessary.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate. Previous experience in security field or background in military or law enforcement preferred. Effective time management with multi-tasking abilities are necessary. A professional appearance is required. Excellent communications skills. Understand and comply with all company and department rules and regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

WORK/EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Law or Related Field and five (5) years experience in a Security management position (Required)
  • Minimum seven (7) years casino security experience (Required)
  • Five (5) years senior management experience in Security for a casino with 2,000 or more slot machines and 100 table games is preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

  • Ability to obtain/renew all government required licenses or certification.
  • Ability to obtain a Key Gaming License from the New York State Gaming Commission
