The Senior Director, Engineering, Burger King US&C is a senior technology leader responsible for the engineering strategy, architecture, development, and operational delivery of Burger King's guest-facing, restaurant, and franchisee technology ecosystem across approximately 7,000 restaurants in the US & Canada.

This role leads engineering across three core platform areas: loyalty and digital ordering experiences, including offers, payments, menu, checkout, and order-injection capabilities; kiosks and in-restaurant ordering, including kiosk platforms, restaurant hardware integrations, and store-level ordering experiences; and AI-enabled tools for franchisees and field leaders, including BK Assistant, DT Audio, operational intelligence, reporting, real-time alerts, and franchisee enablement platforms.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with strategic business partnership capabilities and brings experience leading engineering organizations within QSR, retail, hospitality, or consumer technology environments.

RBI follows a 5 day, in-office work schedule to support collaboration. Candidates should be comfortable working onsite 5 days per week out of our office in Miami, FL.

What You'll Cook Up:

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the engineering strategy, architecture, and delivery of Burger King's guest-facing, restaurant, and franchisee technology platforms across US&C
  • Oversee engineering execution for mobile applications, kiosk platforms, franchisee tools, menu technologies, BK Audio, BK Assistant, and related restaurant technology solutions
  • Drive modernization of technology architecture to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing systems
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, development practices, quality assurance processes, release governance, incident management, observability, SLOs, and operational readiness practices across platforms and operational excellence across platforms
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for critical production issues and drive long-term platform stability and performance improvements

AI, Innovation & Restaurant Technology

  • Lead applied AI, automation, personalization, voice technology, and operational intelligence initiatives across Burger King's restaurant technology ecosystem.
  • Oversee engineering for systems that convert restaurant signals, including audio, order events, device telemetry, guest feedback, digital uptime, and operational data into reliable recommendations, alerts, dashboards, and coaching workflows.
  • Partner with Product, Operations, and Analytics teams to improve data accessibility, reporting, experimentation, and decision-making across BK Assistant, DT Audio, app, kiosk, digital uptime, menu, POS, and franchisee reporting systems.
  • Establish engineering practices for AI and data-enabled products, including data quality, model quality, monitoring, human review, privacy, compliance, cost management, and production reliability.
  • Advance platform interoperability, automation capabilities, and data accessibility across the Burger King technology ecosystem

Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering organization, including direct management of engineering leaders and oversight of a broader full-time and contractor team
  • Partner closely with Product, Operations, Marketing, Digital, and Franchisee leadership teams to align engineering priorities with business objectives
  • Collaborate with the Franchisee Technology & Digital Council and key stakeholders to improve platform adoption, usability, and operational impact
  • Lead budgeting, workforce planning, vendor management, and resource allocation for the engineering organization

What Ingredients You'll Bring:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, digital platforms, or technology leadership roles, including experience managing people, and leading engineering organizations at scale
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Experience leading high-scale consumer transaction platforms, preferably involving ordering, payments, loyalty, personalization, commerce, or digital marketplace experiences.
  • Experience integrating software with physical-world systems such as POS, kiosks, tablets, headsets, menu boards, payment devices, IoT devices, store hardware, or other restaurant/retail technologies.
  • Experience leading AI, automation, personalization, voice technology, or operational intelligence initiatives
  • Strong understanding of quality engineering, system reliability, release management, and agile delivery methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and build strong cross-functional partnerships across Product, Operations, Marketing, and Digital organizations
  • Experience managing complex vendor ecosystems and large-scale contractor partnerships
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills with a passion for building technology solutions that improve guest, restaurant, and franchisee experiences.
