Job description

Engineering Analysis Manager

Seattle, WA โ€“ Relocation Assistance Provided

The Company

Our client is developing next-generation nuclear battery technology designed to deliver reliable, long-duration power in extreme and remote environments. Their systems harness radioisotope heat to support critical missions across space, ocean, and terrestrial applications. As they work toward bringing this technology to market by 2027, our client is looking for mission-driven, innovative professionals who are excited to operate in a fast-moving startup environment. Team members will have a direct impact on enabling critical commercial and national security missions from the depths of the ocean, to the surface of the moon, and in some of the most challenging environments here on Earth.

The Job

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Analysis Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team supporting the development and deployment of Radioisotope Power Systems (RPS). This role is responsible for managing analysts across structural, thermal, and nuclear disciplines, ensuring high-quality technical output in support of mission-critical programs.

Functions

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and oversight to a team of mechanical and nuclear analysts, ensuring high-quality, timely, and technically rigorous analysis deliverables.
  • Review and provide feedback on structural, thermal, and nuclear analysis work, maintaining strong engineering standards while balancing program schedules and priorities.
  • Manage team workload and resource allocation across multiple projects, aligning analysis priorities with program and company needs.
  • Support the professional development of team members through regular coaching, feedback, goal setting, and performance development conversations.
  • Partner closely with mechanical design, systems engineering, materials, and program management teams to ensure analysis efforts support integrated product development.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point, helping guide analysis approaches, assumptions, and modeling strategies.
  • Identify, implement, and continuously improve analysis workflows, tools, documentation practices, and knowledge-sharing across the team.
  • Communicate team progress, technical risks, and resource needs to senior leadership; represent the analysis team in cross-functional technical and programmatic discussions.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture aligned with the company's values and engineering rigor.
  • Report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager, providing regular updates on team performance, project status, and technical risks.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related field with a strong emphasis on engineering analysis.
  • 8+ years of professional engineering experience in mechanical, thermal, structural, or nuclear analysis.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • Strong foundation in engineering analysis methods, with deep expertise in at least one domain (structural, thermal, or nuclear); experience with FEA-based analysis is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary analysis environments and the ability to effectively oversee work outside one's primary technical specialty.
  • Experience performing engineering work under AS9100, NQA-1, or similar quality standard.
  • Ability to identify technical risks, define bounding cases, and guide teams toward practical, defensible engineering solutions.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to lead technical efforts, mentor peers, and drive work to completion in ambiguous or evolving environments.
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects and competing demands.
  • Interest in developing leadership skills and supporting the growth and success of others.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and proactively improving processes and team effectiveness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to multidisciplinary teams and senior leadership.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, program management, quality, and operations teams.

Additional Requirements

  • Position requires in-office presence in Seattle (South Lake Union) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, remote work is optional on Mondays and Fridays
  • Travel: Travel is required, <10%
