Niowave is an engineering/scientific playground where you will be engaged in supporting processes across multiple major programs that have a direct impact on cancer patient survival. The Nuclear Engineer Supervisor role encompasses leadership, technical excellence, and operational execution, while fostering a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and the ideal staff member experience.
  • Oversees the efforts for various aspects of nuclear engineering related to Radioisotope Production including:
    • Accelerator target design and operation; isotope production target design, operation, and handling; nuclear measurements; radiation shielding; radioactive material handling; critical utilities handling radioactive material
  • Leads day-to-day technical execution of the nuclear engineering team
  • Supports cGMP readiness and process qualification for radioisotope manufacturing production
  • Collaborates with various teams (Production, Quality, R amp;D, etc.) to ensure successful implementation of process improvements
  • Conducts troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production and MS amp;T issues.
  • Maintain compliance with all cGMP and radiation safety procedures
  • Supports preparation and review of technical documentation including SOPs, batch records, process descriptions, and validation protocols
  • Sets KPIs, communicates key program updates, and drives improvements in quality, safety, and productivity to ensure KPIs are met
  • Leads all operational efforts and identifies process improvements to increase efficiency and support strategic growth
  • Leads and inspires a diverse team of skilled professionals
What you need to succeedโ€ฆ
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Physics, Nuclear Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of nuclear engineering experience including hands-on experience with the following:
    • fundamental concepts in nuclear engineering including: radiation transport, radiation detection methods, radiation interactions with matter, and thermal hydraulics.
    • research reactor neutronics, thermal-hydraulics, monitoring and controls, or auxiliary systems
    • common spectroscopy setups (alpha, beta, gamma, neutron) and ability to detect, identify, and quantify radioactive materials
    • reactor or accelerator benchmarking or measurement experiments
    • handling open and sealed radioactive sources
    • working in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably NRC or FDA
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience including day-to-day activities of a team of 6 or more with demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams, establish career development tracks, and succession planning

  • Masterโ€™s degree or PhD in Nuclear Engineering or related field
  • 12+ years of nuclear engineering experience
  • 5+ years of nuclear engineering knowledge for accelerator development/operations
  • Hands-on experience utilizing lean manufacturing principles for continuous process improvements and/or certification (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S)
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience including day-to-day activities of a team of 8 or more with demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams, establish career development tracks, and succession planning
Other things to knowโ€ฆ
  • Full-time position
  • The companyโ€™s standard operating hours are Monday thru Friday 6:00 a.m. โ€“ 6:00 p.m. with production related activities requiring 24/7/365 shifts
  • This position will have regular working hours Monday - Friday within the standard operating hours
  • There is an expectation of adjusting working hours outside the standard hours to meet operational requirements
  • Niowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area and travel between locations is expected in the role
