Job Description & Requirements GU Multidisciplinary Team Leader & Med Dir,Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence StartDate: ASAP

Genitourinary Multidisciplinary Team Leader &

Medical Director, Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence

Karmanos Cancer Institute

Detroit, MI

In partnership with AMN Healthcare, Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and Wayne State University seek an accomplished physician to serve as Genitourinary Multidisciplinary Team Leader & Medical Director of the Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence. This is an opportunity to shape the future of GU cancer care and research at an independent, NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center within McLaren Health Care, anchoring Michigan's largest integrated cancer network and supporting one of the nation's most robust clinical trials programs.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to Boris Pasche, MD, PhD, CEO & President of Karmanos Cancer Center/Chair of Oncology at Wayne State University, the GU MDT Leader & Medical Director of the Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence will guide a talented team of 16 physician faculty, advance innovative clinical care, and influence the cancer center's future through senior leadership committees.

Additionally, this leader will set the strategic direction for the prostate cancer research program, guide the design and execution of research initiatives, strengthen integration between basic and clinical science, and oversee a robust and growing clinical trial portfolio.

Karmanos continues to strengthen its clinical and research enterprise, and in addition to its clinical trials portfolio, the Institute currently has a robust theranostics program under review and is actively expanding its sites of care. The Cancer Center resubmitted its CCSG in January 2026, and its catchment area encompasses 6.7 million residents, with a richly diverse population across ethnic and socioeconomic lines, providing a unique environment for advancing health disparities research and more.

The Ideal Candidate

The GU MDT Leader should have experience developing and leading high-functioning teams, advancing clinical trials, and maintaining a research program supported by NIH, industry, foundation, or other sources. Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent terminal medical degree and maintain current board certification in an oncology specialty.

The Organization

The Genitourinary (GU) Oncology program at Karmanos Cancer Institute has been considered a strength for many years and serves as a model to the other disease site teams. As part of McLaren Health Care, the Karmanos Cancer Institute is Michigan's only hospital dedicated exclusively to cancer care and the state's largest cancer research and provider network. Karmanos supports one of the nation's most extensive clinical trials programs, including a robust Phase I program housed within the Eisenberg Center for Translational Therapeutics, the only program of its kind in Michigan. Through 17 network sites, Karmanos serves patients across 47 counties in Michigan and northern Ohio, reaching urban, suburban, and rural communities.

McLaren Health Care is a $6 billion, fully integrated delivery system spanning 15 hospitals across Michigan and Ohio. The system includes ambulatory surgery and imaging centers, an employed primary and specialty care physician network, commercial and Medicaid HMOs covering approximately 640,000 lives in Michigan and Indiana, as well as home health, infusion, hospice, pharmacy services, a clinical laboratory network, and a wholly owned medical malpractice insurance company.

The Region

Detroit is enjoying an amazing renaissance, marked by urban revitalization and significant infrastructure investment. Michigan offers diverse geography and abundant opportunities for an active lifestyle; its two peninsulas, bordered by four Great Lakes, provide more freshwater shoreline than any other state in the nation.
