Job Summary (Primary Function)

The Director, Field Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Team, is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing regional MSL team aligned with corporate medical strategies. This field-based leadership role oversees all aspects of MSL activities, including scientific engagement, performance management, talent development, strategic insight generation, and compliance. The Director plays a key role in ensuring cross-functional collaboration and impactful scientific exchange with external stakeholders and internal partners. This position will report to the National Director, Field Medical Affairs - Inflammation and Autoimmunity.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

* Provides day-to-day management of the individual field-based MSLs on the regional team.

* Lead and manage the regional MSL team to support US Medical Affairs goals, ensuring alignment with strategic and tactical medical plans.

* Performs field management visits with individual MSLs to support territory development and promptly address field challenges or issues.

* Serve on the Field Medical Leadership Team, collaborating with counterparts and the National Director to shape field strategies, develop KPIs, and optimize field operations.

* Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Commercial, Regulatory, and Legal to ensure strategic alignment and operational efficiency.

Scientific Engagement

* Ensure each MSL develops and executes a regional field medical plan aligned and consistent with the USMA strategic plans.

* Ensure compliant and impactful scientific exchange with KOLs and HCPs on Incyte's products and pipeline.

* Guide MSLs in building and sustaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders and institutions.

* Oversee development and execution of regional field medical plans in support of overall business and medical objectives.

Team Development & Performance Management

* Recruit, onboard, train, and develop MSL talent to build a culture of excellence and accountability.

* Conduct field coaching visits (minimum 2/year per MSL), performance reviews, and individualized development plans.

* Identify strengths and development areas within the team to foster continuous growth and high engagement.

Medical Communications & Insights

* Facilitate collection, synthesis, and strategic use of field insights to inform internal stakeholders and shape company strategy.

* Collaborate with Medical Communications to develop MSL tools and resources (e.g., slide decks, FAQs).

Compliance & Operational Excellence

* Ensure MSL activities are compliant with SOPs, industry regulations (FDA, OIG, PhRMA Code), and internal policies.

* Work closely with Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory to ensure proper scientific engagement boundaries.

* Maintain MSL metrics to measure field impact and operational success.

Qualifications

* Advanced scientific degree (PharmD, MD, PhD) or relevant clinical experience.

* Extensive Medical Affairs experience, with preferred experience managing MSL teams.

* Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical product lifecycle and medical strategy.

* Proven ability to lead and inspire a geographically dispersed team.

* Strong knowledge of applicable regulations (e.g., FDA, OIG, PhRMA Code).

* Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

* The ability to network and partner with key external experts, academic institutions, large group practices, medical directors and pharmacy directors, and other decisional stakeholders is essential

* Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including travel to home-office (Chadds Ford, PA/Wilmington, DE).

Preferred Experience

* Strong, established relationships with KEEs in relevant therapeutic areas.

* Prior launch experience and clinical trial expertise preferred.

* Experience in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and operational leadership.

* Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and project execution in a matrixed environment.
