Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Summary:
Indiana Packers Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor. This is a 2nd shift position located in our Delphi, Indiana plant. The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the preventative and corrective maintenance process, operating procedures, and supporting the production operation at Indiana Packers Corporation. This position is responsible for supervising maintenance team members in a processing environment and ensuring established daily preventative maintenance targets are achieved. The Maintenance Supervisor will utilize their skill, experience and decision-making ability to ensure equipment downtime is minimized and preventative and corrective maintenance are efficiently completed.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise the activities of maintenance team members in accordance with established procedure.
  • Coach team members on safety, quality/SQF, efficiency, and cost improvements.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations for team members.
  • Attend roll call to assign daily work, answer questions, and give a safety reminder to team members.
  • Check and correct team members for PPE, Lockout, and GMP/SQF violations, and ensure they are carrying required tools.
  • Assign work, review/audit PM's, and follow-up with team members to ensure quality.
  • Develop work list from your area, ensure parts needed are on hand, and schedule are completed, including weekends.
  • Complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 5 Minute Downtime Forms to AMS daily.
  • Provide information to AMS for carry over items and weekend list tasks.
  • Monitor radio calls to be present at breakdowns in your area.
  • Audit 10 PM's in your area per week to check thoroughness and determine any training needs.
  • Perform other duties as needed or required.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • 2+ years of management / leadership experience in a processing manufacturing environment - managing 10+ direct reports.
  • 5+ years experience as a maintenance technician maintaining and repairing processing equipment and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of USDA and HACCP procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to multi-task in a work a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work around raw meat.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments.
  • Flexibility to work on a variety of shifts and work extensive overtime, including weekends.
  • Good computer literacy skills and possess ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Results driven and employee oriented.
  • Commitment to follow safety policies and practices and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Uphold company policies and ethical standards.
  • Good leadership and motivational skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to attend classes or training as needed.
  • Must be able to work weekends and on-call as needed.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on the site including exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in cold, hot, and outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
Physical Demand:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arms and fingers, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina and vision.
