Summary:

Oracle Pork, a division of Indiana Packers Corporation is looking for a motivated, self-managed, organized Director of Oracle Pork. This position is responsible for providing oversight of the Oracle Pork (OP) system. This position will manage staff, grower relationships and compliance and pig flows for a large integrated and coordinated, high health WTF system. This position requires working collaboratively with veterinary and nutritional consultants, weaned pig suppliers, the OP feed mill and IPC Procurement staff to support business objectives and provide forecasting and planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a multi-year production strategy aligned with Indiana Packers' growth, cost, and supply objectives
  • Establish and maintain production targets and goals related to corporate profitability and swine production
  • Ensure that grower practices comply with company and regulatory policies and SOPs related to swine production
  • Manage relationships with sow farms that supply wean pigs into the production system and monitor performance and cost of those systems to ensure quality wean pig production at a competitive value
  • Maintain and foster a productive relationship with industry partners, including veterinary service providers, wean pig sources, genetics companies and others within the swine industry
  • Responsible for submitting all production and financial records and reports in timely fashion to appropriate department/person
  • Uphold the IPC image and promote IPC both within and outside of the organization
  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable law. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems that may arise with Growers. Communicating with business units for common goals on performance and supply to IPC.
  • Establish and drive performance against key production and financial KPIs, including cost of gain, mortality, feed conversion, and throughput
  • Own and optimize cost-of-production across the Oracle Pork system, driving continuous improvement in efficiency and margin per head
  • Evaluate and manage input costs including feed, health protocols, genetics, and grower compensation structures
  • Maintain and continuously enhance biosecurity protocols, health programs, and animal welfare standards
  • Partner closely with veterinary and nutrition teams to optimize herd health, performance outcomes, and feed strategies
  • Negotiate and manage grower contracts to ensure alignment with business objectives and market conditions
  • Drive continuous improvement through benchmarking, education, and capability building across the grower network
  • Collaborate with procurement, sales, and plant operations to optimize end-to-end supply chain performance
  • Utilize emerging AI technologies and automation to improve performance, traceability, and efficiency
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team with a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Establish succession plans and talent development strategies across the Oracle Pork organization
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and company standards related to swine production

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in animal science/business management and 5+ years of large-scale commercial swine management experience is desired. Other combinations of experience and education will be considered. Candidates with advanced degrees (MS, PhD, DVM) are encouraged to apply.
  • Pork Quality Assurance Certified (PQA-Plus).
  • Transport Quality Assurance Certified (TQA)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of swine production practices and understanding of key performance indicators associated with wean to finish systems. Knowledge of sow farm production practices and industry recognized performance metrics and financials related to weaned pig production is desired but not required.
  • Effective skills in presenting information and responding to questions from both growers and shareholders
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valued conclusions
  • Must possess the ability to deal effectively with people as well as exemplary interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to operate in a highly professional and confidential manner. The upmost diligence and strong ethics are required.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft office products along with the ability to learn and utilize enterprise software and database reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals including groups of managers, contractors, and subordinates.

Work Environment:
