Job description

Allient Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a Project Manager to join our team in Rochester, New York! 

The Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful execution of cross-functional product development and customer projects from concept through commercialization. This role is accountable for planning, coordinating, and driving project execution by managing scope, schedule, budget, resources, and risk while ensuring compliance with the organization's Stage-Gate product development process. The Project Manager drives the when, how, and who of project execution. The successful candidate serves as a catalyst for progress by proactively removing barriers, facilitating collaboration, driving accountability, and maintaining momentum across multiple cross-functional teams. This role requires strategic thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to provide calm, decisive leadership while navigating changing priorities and complex technical development efforts. Apply now!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional product development and customer projects from initiation through successful product launch using the Stage-Gate product development process.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously update integrated project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and project reporting.
  • Drive project execution by effectively managing project scope, schedule, budget, resources, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary facilitator for project execution by identifying obstacles, resolving issues, driving decisions, and ensuring projects maintain forward momentum.
  • Partner closely with the Product Manager to evaluate and manage trade-offs involving scope, schedule, cost, risk, resource allocation, and customer commitments.
  • Facilitate technical and business risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and escalation to reduce execution risk and improve project outcomes.
  • Lead regular project reviews, action item tracking, and cross-functional meetings to ensure accountability and timely completion of project deliverables.
  • Establish and maintain accurate project metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting to communicate project health and support informed decision-making.
  • Utilize Jira and other project management tools to drive visibility, improve workflow management, and continuously enhance project execution processes.
  • Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline project management practices, improve team collaboration, and increase execution efficiency.
  • Build strong working relationships across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, and other functional teams to facilitate collaboration and resolve cross-functional challenges.
  • Ensure all Stage-Gate requirements, documentation, and approvals are completed in accordance with established product development processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or a related field required.

Experience:

  • 5 - 7 years of project management experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or new product development environment.
  • Managing cross-functional projects using a structured project management methodology.
  • Working within a Stage-Gate or similar product development process is preferred.
  • Managing customer-facing projects is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to drive project execution and consistently deliver measurable project results in a fast-paced product development environment.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify obstacles, facilitate decisions, and accelerate project progress by driving accountability across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and organizational skills with the ability to anticipate challenges, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure while providing calm, objective leadership during changing priorities, project risks, and critical issues.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Experience developing and maintaining integrated project schedules, dashboards, status reporting, and project metrics.
  • Working knowledge of Jira or similar project management platforms, with the ability to leverage project management tools to improve team collaboration, transparency, and execution.
  • Ability to quickly develop a working knowledge of products, technologies, customers, and market applications to facilitate productive discussions, identify project risks, and support informed decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining focus on project objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting project status to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, D365/Microsoft Office Suite, and other project management tools.
