Job description

The Brattle Group, a privately held, global economic consulting firm, is looking for a Director of Global Workplace Operations to join our Washington, DC office. The Director of Global Workplace Operations is responsible for ensuring highly skilled and high-performing administrative support teams, efficient and effective facilities services and the effective execution and management of the firm's real estate operations in support of firm leadership and business needs.
This role provides global leadership across workplace operations, administrative services, facilities and space management, and real estate portfolio management in support of firmwide operational and workplace strategies.
The position reports to the VP of Operations, is part of the Corporate Services management team, and works closely with local Office Directors and firm leadership to ensure that operational services and physical infrastructure are aligned with the firm's business objectives, growth plans, and evolving workplace needs.
Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:
Team Leadership & Management
  • Ensure a highly skilled, motivated, and high-performing administrative and operational support team across the firm globally.
  • Directly lead, manage, coach, and develop the administration and facilities managers throughout the firm.
  • Oversee the annual performance review process for direct reports and their teams, including salary and bonus recommendations.
  • Effectively coach and support managers in addressing staff issues and concerns, ensuring timely and appropriate resolution.
  • Ensure effective resource planning and workload allocation across the administrative team, aligning skills, availability, and business demand while maintaining high service levels.
  • Provide learning and development opportunities to support professional growth and talent pipelines within Administration and Facilities.

Workplace Operations & Facilities Management
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring that facilities and local office support structures are aligned with and responsive to business needs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of global facilities and workplace standards allowing flexibility for local office differences.
  • Lead the implementation of workplace and occupancy approaches (including hybrid models, hoteling, and space utilization policies) consistent with firmwide direction.
  • Oversee physical security, emergency preparedness, and crisis response protocols across all office locations, partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with firmwide risk, safety, and business continuity standards.

Real Estate
  • Execute the firm's real estate strategy in alignment with direction set by the VP of Operations, including leased office space, renewals, expansions, contractions, and relocations
  • Partner with the VP of Operations, Finance, Legal, and external advisors to support real estate transactions, lease negotiations, and execution.
  • Oversee lease administration, critical dates, compliance with lease terms, and financial obligations.
  • Lead office buildouts, renovations, and capital projects under the strategic guidance of the VP of Operations and in coordination with external vendors.
  • Manage relationships with landlords, brokers, architects, project managers, and other real estate service providers.

Operational Excellence
  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies and process improvements that enhance service delivery, optimize workplace utilization, and improve cost effectiveness across the firm's global operations and real estate portfolio.
  • Regularly assess organizational structure and recommend adjustments to improve scalability, efficiency, and service delivery aligned with firm growth.
  • In coordination with the VP of Operations, develop and manage budgets for administration, facilities, and real estate operations.

THE CANDIDATE
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, facilities management, real estate, or a related field
  • 15 years of experience in administrative operations, facilities management, or real estate operations, preferably within professional services
  • 8-10 years of related management experience with at least 5 years overseeing a large, multi-location team, including multiple reporting layers
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-site operational and workplace initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong vendor management, contract negotiation and relationship management experience
  • Familiarity with hybrid workplace strategies and space utilization planning
  • Experience supporting leadership and teams in remote locations; experience working with international locations desired
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong execution mindset and proven ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and service
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels, with the ability to analyze data, exercise sound judgment, and translate business objectives into effective operating models, policies, and systems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams with varying levels of experience, fostering high performance, accountability, and engagement across distributed and multi-layered teams
  • Trusted partner who collaborates effectively across functions and leads through influence, building strong relationships to drive alignment and results
  • Practical, hands-on problem solver with a strong customer-service mindset and willingness to 'roll up sleeves' to resolve issues and continuously improve operational effectiveness
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills combined with strong discretion, ethical standards, and the ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Evening/weekend work may be required
  • Occasional domestic and international travel is required

Brattle offers a competitive benefits package, base salary, and bonus program for eligible roles based on individual and firm performance. The anticipated base gross salary range for this position in Washington, DC is $175,000 - $205,000 annually. Actual salary will depend on a variety of factors, including experience and training.
