ScheduleThis position is part of a strong nurse management team, utilizing a very high ratio of nurse managers to residents to oversee a small skilled nursing unit within a continuing care retirement community.  The role is primarily weekdays, with a predictable on-call rotation, and flexibility to balance hours during the week.

Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Director of Nursing to join our team! The Director of Nursing is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing the nursing function in the Continuing Care Retirement Community.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervising all nursing staff and ensuring staff provides quality resident care that meets or exceeds regulatory standards.
  • Oversees nursing department budget.
  • Oversees and manages nurse leadership positions in the community.
  • May assist with duties of other nurse leadership positions as needed.
  • Assists with hiring and onboarding, training, development and retention of nursing staff.
  • May be designated to assume responsibilities of daily operations of the facility in the Executive Director's absence.
  • Communicates with physicians, residents, and family members regarding resident health and plan of care.
  • Ensures nursing staff are trained on new policies and procedures.
  • Participates in daily, weekly, and monthly meetings.
  • Completes reports and audits in a timely manner.
  • Ensures nursing documentation and assessments are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with community policies. 
  • Reviews restorative nursing procedures for each resident so as to achieve the highest possible degree of function, self-care, and independence based on resident choice, where practical, in collaboration with the MDS Coordinator.
  • Oversees and participates in nursing on-call rotation.
  • Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests.

Qualifications:

  • The Director of Nursing Services (DON) must be a Registered Nurse from an accredited college, be currently licensed in the state* applying to without encumbrance, and be responsible for maintaining professional licensure and CEU requirements. 
  • Must have at least 3-5 of supervisory experience, preferably in a geriatric setting. 
  • Current CPR certification required.
