Job description

The Director, Public Relations & Philanthropy leads the development and execution of public relations and philanthropic strategies across the organization. This role is responsible for shaping how the brand is represented externally, strengthening media and community relationships, and driving charitable giving initiatives that reflect organizational values and deepen community impact.
This individual is both a strategic leader and a hands-on contributor with strong experience managing communications, partnerships, and events. A key thought leader, this role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams-including Marketing, Internal Communications, Executive Leadership, and the Charitable Foundation Board-to ensure alignment of messaging, campaigns, and community engagement efforts.
This Director is part of the Marketing Leadership Team, bringing high-visibility initiatives, events, and programs to life. This is a hybrid role and will sit out of our Dedham, MA office two days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance brand reputation and external visibility
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, influencers, and community partners
  • Oversee the creation of press releases, pitches, and thought leadership communications to promote key initiatives and stories
  • Lead the strategy and execution of the Jordan's Charitable Foundation, including fundraising and giving programs aligned with organizational values
  • Guide the Charitable Foundation Board in achieving fundraising goals and leading donation initiatives and events
  • Plan and oversee charitable events and community engagement initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Internal Communications, and Executive Leadership to ensure alignment of branding, messaging, and campaigns
  • Analyze PR performance, media coverage, and fundraising metrics to measure success and inform strategy
  • Manage the intake, prioritization, and execution of PR and philanthropic initiatives to ensure timely delivery and high-quality outcomes
  • Monitor industry trends, media landscape, retail and furniture industry news, and competitive activity; bring forward innovative ideas and insights
  • Lead, coach, and develop the PR team and cross-functional partners while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture
  • Act as a brand steward for the Jordan's Furniture organization, ensuring consistency and integrity across all communications

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong experience in public relations, media relations, philanthropy, or communications strategy
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate ideas clearly and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and coaching team members
  • Strong understanding of brand messaging, storytelling, and reputation management
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and executive leadership
  • High business acumen and strong problem-solving skills; curious, confident, and passionate about learning
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, personalities, and levels of authority

Pay Range: $156,000.00 - $195,000.00 per year.
