Position Scope:

The Training & Development Advisor is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of training programs, learning materials, and competency-based learning solutions that support workforce competency, operational excellence, and business objectives.

Working closely with operational leaders, subject matter experts, and stakeholders across the organization, the Training & Development Advisor creates engaging and effective learning resources that build workforce capability, support operational excellence, and ensure employees have the knowledge and skills required to perform their jobs safely, efficiently and effectively.

The position balances strategic workforce development planning with hands-on curriculum design, training delivery, learning management system administration, and continuous improvement initiatives that support a culture of learning and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

Develop and maintain high-quality learning solutions that support employee development,

competency, and operational effectiveness.

  • Design, develop, and update training materials, facilitator guides, learner manuals,

    presentations, and assessment tools.

  • Create classroom, field-based, online, and blended learning programs.

  • Ensure training materials reflect operational procedures, equipment requirements, legislation,

    and industry best practices.

  • Analyze training data, feedback, assessments, and performance results.

  • Recommend improvements to learning materials, program delivery methods, and competency

    systems.

  • Incorporate adult learning principles, instructional design best practices, and emerging learning

    technologies.

  • Research, evaluate, source, and develop internal and external training solutions to meet organizational requirements.

Work with operational leaders and subject matter experts to identify learning needs and develop effective training solutions.

  • Consult with Corporate, Operations, Maintenance, HSE, and Training personnel to determine training requirements.

  • Support implementation of new equipment, technologies, systems, and work processes.

  • Assist with onboarding, project mobilization, and client-specific training initiatives.

Support the administration and maintenance of learning systems and training documentation.

  • Upload, maintain, and manage training content within the Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Ensure training materials, records, and competency documentation are current and accurate.

  • Generate reports and training metrics as required.

Qualifications

What Makes You the ONE

  • 3-5 years of experience developing training programs within mining, construction, industrial, or heavy equipment environments.
  • Experience designing instructor-led and e-learning content.
  • Experience developing competency-based training and assessment tools.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Diploma or degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, Business Administration, Computer Science or a related field.

  • Certificate in Adult Learning, Instructional Design, E-Learning Development, or Training and Development is considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning methodologies, and competency-based training systems.

  • Understanding of mining, construction, maintenance, or heavy equipment operations.

  • Strong technical writing, editing, and content development skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management Systems (LMS).

  • Experience with training development software and e-learning authoring tools.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

  • Commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
