Job Description
Diversified Maintenance is seeking a dynamic Director of Operations to lead and oversee the day-to-day janitorial operations for a designated business division. This senior leadership role is accountable for full operational ownership, including P&L management, team leadership, client satisfaction, and overall business performance. The Director of Operations will develop and execute strategic initiatives designed to drive profitability, enhance service quality, and support sustainable growth. Through continuous evaluation and performance management, this role directly impacts key metrics such as cost control, service delivery, and team effectiveness. As a hands-on, solution-oriented leader, the Director provides guidance, coaching, and accountability across a team of managers and frontline employees, while maintaining strong client relationships through effective communication, including leading client reviews and ensuring service excellence. Travel is required to support multiple locations and business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations through a high-performing team of managers and front-line staff, ensuring consistent execution and service excellence.
  • Own and manage full P&L responsibility for assigned operations, driving profitability while maintaining service quality and operational efficiency.
  • Provide executive-level oversight across all operational areas, including employee management, financial performance, sales growth, account management, startups, compliance, and overall business performance.
  • Build, develop, and lead high-performing teams by providing coaching, mentorship, and ongoing development opportunities for managers and frontline employees.
  • Establish, monitor, and hold teams accountable to key performance indicators (KPIs), driving continuous improvement in cost control, service delivery, and employee engagement.
  • Serve as a strategic, solution-oriented leader who proactively identifies operational challenges and implements effective, results-driven solutions.
  • Oversee and strengthen client relationships to ensure high levels of satisfaction, retention, and long-term partnership success.
  • Lead client communications, including preparing for and conducting client business reviews, ensuring transparency, alignment, and value delivery.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and guidance to team members regarding operational performance, issue resolution, and professional development.
  • Stay current with industry trends and market conditions, identifying opportunities for growth, innovation, and operational expansion.
  • Travel as required to support operations, client relationships, and team development across assigned locations.

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management experience in janitorial industry
  • Business level oral and written communication skills; ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing environments
  • Excellent customer service skills; active listening skills
  • Ability to lead and encourage teamwork; ability to negotiate and resolve conflict
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate sound judgment
  • Able to think independently
  • Ability to analyze and deliver effective solutions
  • Excellent organizational skills to include astute prioritization skills
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft and Google products

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business management
  • Bilingual; ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish, French, or other languages
  • Prior cleaning or janitorial experience
  • Familiarity with custodial practices and commercial cleaning standards
  • Knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing and waxing
  • Experience in industrial cleaning or facilities maintenance
