CompleteRx is seeking a Director of Pharmacy to help provide exceptional patient care at a 25-bed critical access hospital located in Warsaw, NY.

As the Director of Pharmacy, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for at our partnered hospital, Wyoming County Community Health System, while having the support and expertise of CompleteRx’s operations team as a resource. In this role, your leadership, clinical expertise, and commitment to innovation will help advance pharmacy services and enhance patient care for the communities served by the health system.

    Compensation:

    • $155,000 - $173,000

    Pharmacy Operating Hours:

    • Monday – Friday: 7am – 5pm
    • Saturday & Holidays: 7am – 1pm
    • Sunday: Closed

    What You Will Do

    Evaluates operations on an ongoing basis to ensure safe, appropriate, cost-effective care delivery

    • Develops, enforces, and maintains policies and procedures that promote cost-effective, appropriate, and safe drug use.
    • Evaluates operations on an ongoing basis using principles of continuous process improvement.
    • Develops, implements, checks, and retools action plans to address variances and improve efficiency.
    • Develops and maintains a medical-staff-approved formulary.
    • Supervises drug storage and preparation areas throughout the hospital.
    • Provides for the educational needs of healthcare professionals and patients and their families.
    • Ensures maintenance of an adequate drug supply. Ensures the integrity of the drug supply. Establishes specifications for the procurement of drugs, chemicals, and biologicals.
    • Ensures strict control and accountability for drugs dispensed to patients or distributed to floor stock.
    • Assures adequate control and documentation of controlled substances.
    • Maintains a quality improvement plan for the department
    • Ensures the pharmacy is in compliance with all federal, state, and other regulatory agency laws and standards.

    Supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates staff.

    • Supervises pharmacy personnel.
    • Develops job descriptions, performance standards, and performance goals.
    • Evaluates and counsels staff on their performance.
    • Prepares work schedules and monitors workload statistics. Maintains an appropriate staffing level.
    • Provides for the educational needs of the pharmacy staff.
    • Acts as a positive role model, mentor, and preceptor.
    • Promotes individual professional growth.
    • Communicates with staff and promotes staff ownership in problem-solving and participation in operational decision-making.

    Prepares annual budget, controls and reduces costs, forecasts operational needs, and reviews expenditures to ensure budget limits are not exceeded.

    • Prepares a pharmacy budget annually.
    • Reviews monthly financial statistics and plans expenditures within budget guidelines.
    • Monitors and justifies all expenses exceeding budgeted targets.
    • Ensures preparation and submission of patient charges and financial reports to administration in accordance with hospital policy.
    • Administers reports, documents, payroll records, employee surveys, and other required data.
    • Ensures applicable CE records and licensures are maintained in department files.
    • Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures that apply to pharmacy services.
    • Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

    Establishes the scope of services and develops annual implementation plans which contribute to the organizational strategic objectives.

    • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the pharmacy that supports the mission and goals of the organization.
    • Develop and implement pharmacy services in collaboration with associated department services.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain a program that improves the quality of pharmacy services and supports the quality improvement plan of the organization.
    • Participate in all committees/functions required by the organization including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
    • Establish productive collaborative relationships with physicians, nursing, administration, and other hospital staff.
    • Meet customers' needs and expectations.

    Maintains competency required for current job title/position:

    • Maintain current pharmacist license.
    • Attend management meetings.
    • Sustain professional competency and promotes development through participation in in-services, workshops, seminars, and professional organizations.
    • Complete all competency/skills assessment requirements
    • Is punctual and dependable.
    • Maintain a neat, professional, well-groomed appearance. Wears identification badge.
    • Perform work within specified time frames. Adapts positively to frequent interruptions and changes in workload and/or work schedule.
    • Provide courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and staff. Demonstrates good verbal and written communication.
    • Work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff. Voice concerns and suggestions to appropriate persons in a positive manner. Foster a team environment.
    • Demonstrate sound professional judgment consistent with clinical/academic background.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of patients, guests, and employee information.
    • Comply with all requirements related to risk management, safety, security, fire, and infection control.

    What You Will Need

    • Bachelor of Science or PharmD degree required.
    • Current license, in good standing, to practice pharmacy in the State of New York.
    • Three (3) years of management experience.
    • Three to five (3-5) years of hospital pharmacy experience is required.
