Job description

The Director of Brand Strategy & Commercialization is responsible for driving brand growth through consumer insight, product innovation, competitive intelligence, commercialization strategy, business performance analysis, maintaining brand equity stewardship, and communication strategy. This role oversees the Brand Management team and partners cross-functionally with Product Development, Sales, Category Management, Supply Chain, Creative, Ecommerce, and Marketing to identify opportunities that strengthen brand positioning, accelerate growth, and win across retail and omni-channel environments. This leader will champion the voice of the consumer, monitor emerging trends, identify whitespace opportunities, and help shape products and brand experiences that resonate in a competitive marketplace. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, highly collaborative, commercially minded, analytically driven, and passionate about building brands that lead on shelf and online.


This role serves as a steward of the business, pursuing brand growth opportunities while maintaining profitability and healthy inventory levels.


Responsibilities:


  • Drive brand growth strategies focused on innovation, commercialization, and competitive differentiation.
  • Identify emerging consumer, ingredient, wellness, beauty, and retail trends to inform product opportunities and brand direction.
  • Partner with Product Development and Category Management to identify whitespace opportunities, hero product expansion, retailer opportunities, and portfolio gaps.
  • Monitor competitive activity, pricing, claims, packaging, and market dynamics to help position brands for success.
  • Lead commercialization efforts for new product launches from concept through market execution.
  • Develop compelling product positioning, on-pack communication, and product storytelling that aligns with consumer needs and retailer expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales teams to identify growth opportunities, retailer needs, and channel-specific strategies.
  • Partner with Marketing and Creative teams to ensure brand consistency and strong consumer messaging across touchpoints.
  • Support omni-channel growth strategies to strengthen brand visibility and conversion across retail, ecommerce, and digital platforms.
  • Analyze SKU performance, sales trends, and velocity to support forecasting, product prioritization, and business planning.
  • Partner with inventory planning and operations teams to support inventory forecasting, maintain in-stock levels, and help plan inventory needs for new product launches.
  • Maintain strong understanding of brand P&L performance, including sales, margin, pricing, inventory, and profitability drivers.
  • Review and analyze COGS, pricing structures, and margin opportunities to support profitable brand growth.
  • Conduct competitive pricing analysis and evaluate market positioning across key categories and channels.
  • Evaluate commercialization, promotional, and growth initiatives with an ROI-focused mindset to ensure efficient and profitable business performance.
  • Partner cross-functionally to identify opportunities for margin improvement, pricing optimization, and portfolio productivity.
  • Embrace technology, AI tools, automation, and data-driven solutions to improve efficiencies, streamline workflows, enhance decision making, and support innovation across the business.
  • Help shape long-term brand architecture and hero product strategies that drive sustainable growth.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Brand Management team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and executional excellence.
  • Establish clear priorities and drive cross-functional alignment to ensure successful execution of brand initiatives and business objectives.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and foster a culture of speed, accountability, collaboration, and innovation.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in brand strategy, commercialization, product marketing, category management, or related CPG/wellness roles.
  • Strong understanding of consumer trends, retail dynamics, product positioning, commercialization strategy, pricing, and business analytics.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product Development, Sales, Ecommerce, Operations, Supply Chain, Creative, and Marketing teams.
  • Experience and understanding of omni channel marketing channels and tactics with the ability to evaluate creative fit for platform while maintaining brand consistency and relevance to the target audience
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams in a fast-paced consumer products environment.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen with experience managing P&L performance, margin analysis, pricing strategy, forecasting, inventory planning, and ROI evaluation.
  • Passion for consumer products, branding, innovation, and emerging trends.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate insights into actionable growth opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Experience in wellness, beauty, supplements, retail, or ecommerce or CPG strongly preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Health-conscious mindset and genuine interest in wellness, nutrition, beauty, supplements, and consumer health trends preferred.
