The work programs leverage a diverse set of technical disciplines from within the department and across the corporation to maximize our impact in solving some of our sponsors' toughest modernization challenges in the areas of systems engineering, agile software development, test and evaluation, digital engineering, autonomous systems, and training. Job Description: The Immersive Experimentation Department in conjunction with the Army Soldier and Weapons Systems Department is seeking a technical oriented, system engineer to supporting the modernization for Modeling and Simulation capabilities around Wargaming, Combat Effects, and Campaign Analysis for CPE ST3, DEVCOM Soldier Center, and other government organizations. Successful candidates will work closely with senior government civilian and military leaders to define and execute MITRE's work. The candidate must work within a multiple disciplinary development team and work with industry to integrate capabilities, both software and hardware into the platform. Roles and Responsibilities: * Leverage a technical understanding of System Engineering, Modeling, Simulation, and Live Virtual, Constructive (LVC) training to develop, integration, assess, and analyze a modern training capability.
* Work within multiple disciplinary development team:
* Deliver strategy and recommendations to deliver optimal Technical Performance through the application of software engineering principles and best practices
* Recognize technical challenges and lead engineering activities to deliver appropriate solutions
* Identify and articulate program risks and associated opportunities
* Establish goals and communicate clear expectations and guidance that contribute to highest priority sponsor outcomes
* Establishing strong relationships within the sponsor organization.
* Defining opportunities to collaborate with organizations outside of the sponsor to create a greater mission outcome. Basic Qualifications: * Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD and 3 years of experience
* Active Secret Clearance
* Technical background in disciplines of relevance in one or more of the following: requirements development, engineering, and analysis; system decomposition and design; analysis planning and performance; test/verification planning and performance, system integration.
* Knowledge of related mission domains (LVC training, Modeling and Simulation, Multi-Domain Integration and Operations)
* Knowledge of game engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot Engine, etc.
* Technical background in disciplines of relevance in one or more of the following: Digital Engineering (DE), Model Based System Engineering (MBSE), and/or Mission Engineering (ME).
* Knowledge of diagramming & modeling knowledge with tools such as MagicDraw/Cameo and/or Visio
* Knowledge of system architecture and system of system architecture such as networks, servers, and applications
* Demonstrated experience with software development efforts and yielding impactful results at high levels of government and/or industry.
* Proven experience engaging sponsors with successful impacts and outcomes, and establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships
* Established track record in leading the delivery of data-driven technical products with the military warfighting domain, resulting in positive mission impact.
* Demonstrated ability to take risks and lead work with partial insights, and operate effectively autonomously
* Demonstrated ability to build collaboration across organizational units.
* Demonstrates collaboration and communication skills to support individual, team, and customer-related interaction.
* Critical thinking, analytic, and problem-solving skills - comfortable working in dynamic settings where task objectives may evolve or need to be shaped, or creative solutions to task impediments must be identified.
* Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills, with the ability to author technical reports, present briefings, and persuasively speak to audiences of all backgrounds, including executives or senior customers.
* Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment, establish and leverage a diverse professional network, and integrate contributions from a variety of resources (people, tools, organizations).
* Active Secret Clearance
* Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance
* This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site Preferred Qualifications: * An advanced degree in Systems Engineering, other Engineering disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Computer), Statistics, Physics, or Mathematics
* Current/Active TS/SCI Clearance.
* Systems Engineering, other Engineering disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Computer), Statistics, Physics, or Mathematics.
* Experience composing concepts of operations, use cases, workflow models, and other relevant artifacts that capture the mission and intent of a system.
* Experience building systems models, conducting analysis, and providing recommendations within a team environment on multiple projects.
* Hands-on experience with agile tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, etc.) for scaled environments
* Prior experience developing or assessing Army systems or operations, reflected by:
* Working knowledge of Army organizations, missions, roles/responsibilities, and relationships.
