Job description

Manager, Learning and Development

Capital One's Commercial Banking (CML) and Financial Services (FS) L&D team is hiring a Learning & Development Manager dedicated to our Commercial Banking business.

In this role, you will have a dual focus: owning CML's high-impact Leadership Development Programs and serving as the primary Learning Consultant for assigned business lines within CML. You will design and scale structured, cohort-based learning experiences that feel high-touch and tailored, while working directly with business leaders to identify performance gaps and deliver practical learning solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Cohort Program Leadership

  • Design & Scale Cohort Programs: Lead the strategy, development, and execution of CML's Differential Investment Programs, creating structured learning paths that build strong peer networks.

  • Modernize the Learner Experience: Update program formats using modern digital platforms, AI-driven adaptive learning paths, microlearning, and self-paced application exercises without losing the high-engagement, premium feel of the cohort experience.

  • Program Operations: Oversee end-to-end program delivery, leveraging modern tools to streamline participant selection, facilitator preparation, schedule management, and curriculum updates.

Business Line Consulting & Strategy

  • Consult with Business Leaders: Act as the dedicated L&D partner for assigned CML business lines. Meet regularly with leaders to identify skill gaps-including AI fluency and digital skill adoption-and recommend targeted learning solutions.

  • Align Solutions to Business Goals: Focus training efforts on clear business outcomes rather than off-the-shelf course delivery.

  • Cross-Team Alignment: Partner with colleagues across the broader CML, FS, and enterprise L&D teams to reuse existing learning assets, share effective practices, and avoid duplicate work.

Delivery & Measurement

  • Workshop Facilitation: Lead engaging in-person and virtual workshops for cohorts and business unit teams across all experience levels.

  • Track Impact & Analytics: Measure program success using participant feedback, AI-assisted learning analytics, skill growth tracking, and post-training job performance data.

  • Team Coaching: Mentor and support junior L&D team members working on program execution.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of client facing consulting experience

  • At least 3 years of experience working in Learning and Development

  • At least 3 years of experience managing cohort-based learning programs

  • At least 2 year of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree

  • 3+ years of learning strategy creation experience

  • 4+ years of experience designing, launching, or managing cohort-based learning programs

  • 3+ years of experience using modern learning platforms (LXPs/LMS), content authoring tools, and learning analytics.

  • Direct experience consulting with business leaders to diagnose performance gaps and recommend training solutions.

  • Experience facilitating live training sessions in both virtual and in-person settings.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-week learning projects from kickoff to evaluation.

  • Experience working within Commercial Banking, Financial Services, or a similarly regulated industry.

  • Experience modernizing traditional training programs using digital tools, AI productivity software, peer-to-peer networking, or blended formats.
