Job Title: Senior Learning & Development Specialist

Industry: Professional Services / Consulting

Location (city, state): Washington, DC

Assignment Type: Direct Hire / Permanent

Pay: $100,000 - $120,000 (depending on experience)

Work Schedule: Hybrid — 2 days onsite and 3 days remote. Additional onsite days may be required during trainings, events, and other key programs. Standard hours are 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned L&D professional to take ownership of learning initiatives, collaborate with organizational leaders, and provide mentorship to junior members of the L&D team.

Job Description:

The Senior Learning & Development Specialist will play a key role in developing and delivering organization-wide learning programs that support employee growth, professional development, and broader business objectives. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset while remaining comfortable with hands-on program development and execution.

This position requires someone who can independently manage projects, evaluate training effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and bring new ideas to the organization's L&D strategy. The successful candidate will also serve as a mentor and resource for junior L&D professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance learning programs, curricula, and processes across the organization.
  • Plan and facilitate instructor-led training, virtual workshops, train-the-trainer sessions, and other learning experiences.
  • Manage training logistics, including scheduling, vendors, facilities, meeting space, and event coordination.
  • Collect and analyze training feedback and survey results to identify trends and recommend improvements to leadership.
  • Create and maintain presentations, facilitator guides, course materials, handouts, and other learning resources.
  • Develop instructional content internally and coordinate with outside instructional design resources when needed.
  • Partner with department and practice leaders to identify training needs and develop appropriate learning solutions.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create and deliver specialized and ad-hoc training programs.
  • Take initiative on L&D projects, establish priorities, manage deadlines, and ensure deliverables are completed to a high standard.
  • Partner with HR colleagues on initiatives related to performance management, recruiting, employee development, inclusion, and other organizational priorities.
  • Support compliance training programs through Workday Learning in collaboration with HR, Legal, and Communications teams.
  • Help build learning paths and training portfolios to support employee development and career progression.
  • Manage continuing professional education resources for employees with professional certifications.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide guidance to junior L&D team members.
  • Bring creative ideas and thought leadership to the organization's overall learning and development strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10+ years of experience in Learning & Development, e-learning, organizational development, instructional design, or a related field.
  • Experience designing and delivering instructor-led training programs.
  • Professional services or consulting industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Workday Learning required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong ability to analyze training data and feedback and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects and take initiative without extensive direction.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience collaborating with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
  • Experience supporting change management or organizational development initiatives.
  • Previous mentorship, coaching, or leadership experience within an L&D environment strongly preferred.
  • Mature and collaborative approach with the ability to serve as a trusted mentor to junior team members.
  • Must reside within reasonable commuting distance of Washington, DC and be able to work onsite at least two days per week, with flexibility for additional onsite days as business needs require.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
