Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Senior Training and Development Specialist. This position is a full-time opportunity located in the greater Washington, DC area.
Battelle's Infrastructure Safety and Security (ISS) business is pursuing a high-profile support program for a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) client. The scope of this program includes a full spectrum of research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) support. As we prepare for this opportunity, we are actively recruiting highly qualified candidates for anticipated roles.
The Senior Training and Development Specialist will review and update the T&E curriculum, develop and revise course materials, and deliver professional T&E instruction to DHS personnel. This role requires deep subject matter expertise in adult learning, instructional design, and test and evaluation principles.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Training and Development Specialist, the selected individual will support DHS T&E training programs through curriculum development, instructional design, and direct instruction. Responsibilities may include:
  • Delivering professional T&E instruction for DHS courses, both in person at DHS facilities and virtually, using adult learning concepts and methodologies
  • Reviewing and updating the formal T&E curriculum, including revising existing course materials and creating new content aligned with current DHS directives and T&E policy
  • Providing subject matter expert (SME) support in adult learning principles and the development of interactive web-based and classroom training materials
  • Collaborating with program stakeholders to ensure training content supports program planning, oversight, and mission execution
  • Supporting system-level analysis and integration efforts, including assessment of threats and vulnerabilities as they relate to training program content
  • Assisting with technical assessment and evaluation activities to complement government technical experts in applying acquisition efforts and RDT&E toward the DHS mission
  • Communicating findings and recommendations effectively in written and verbal formats to diverse stakeholders, including senior government personnel

Key Qualifications
  • Advanced degree or equivalent credits/certifications with 10+ years of relevant experience
  • DHS T&E Level 3, DAWIA T&E Practitioner Level 2/3, and/or CTEP (Certified Test and Evaluation Professional) certification
  • Expertise in adult learning principles and development of interactive web-based and classroom training
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Secret level clearance with ability to obtain DHS Suitability.

  • Prior experience supporting DHS programs

  • Experience providing assistance with program planning and oversight, exercise development and execution, and program evaluation
  • Experience with system-level analysis, system integration support, and understanding of threats and vulnerabilities

Compensation Data
Battelle is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $185,000 per year, in addition to our comprehensive benefits package. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications. Salary ranges may vary based on geographic location and market conditions.
