Job description

Responsibilities

Responsible for the daily operation and supervision of the personnel working in the Clinical Laboratory and Transfusion service Departments.  Assists in providing quality services in a cost-efficient manner by recommending and allocating appropriate staffing, Developing and implementing new programs, policies, procedures, protocols, and CAP/Joint commission/CMS compliance, as necessary. Serves to coordinate and direct activities related with management of fiscal, operational, and technical matters. Suggests changes and modifications to services that will improve margins.  Provides professional, competent, safe, appropriate patient care from patients age newborn and older; management of all documentation related to testing and resulting, management of communication between the Laboratory and ancillary and off campus sites, both verbal and hardcopy documents.   Maintains a professional, cooperative interaction with all hospital departments, medical staff, and the public in keeping with the mission and philosophy of Manatee Memorial Hospital Health System. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times.  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Florida State licensure as a Medical Technologist (Supervisor preferred) under the provisions of Chapter 483.  This Laboratory requires licensure in the specialties of Microbiology, Serology/Immunology, Immunohematology, Clinical Chemistry, and Hematology.

  • BS degree in Medical Technology or Biological Sciences with master’s in business preferred.

  • ASCP certification is preferred.

  • Prior Director of Laboratory experience in acute setting preferred.

  • Satisfactory completion of formal clinical laboratory training in an approved program. Minimum of three years of previous management and administrative experience is required Six or more years of recent and pertinent medical laboratory experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills required.

  • Microsoft Office proficient required
