Job description

Senior Director, People & Transformation Communications
The Senior Director, People & Transformation Communications leads the enterprise internal communication strategy for Genuine Parts Company's people agenda, including the company's separation into two independent public companies and the ongoing execution of GPC's People strategy.
Reporting to the Vice President, Global Strategic Communications and working in close partnership with the Chief Human People Officer and People Leadership Team, this role shapes how the organization communicates its workforce strategy, culture priorities, organizational evolution and major people initiatives to teammates globally.
This leader serves as the strategic lead for People-related communications and change enablement, translating complex business and organizational decisions into clear, aligned and trusted messaging for teammates and leaders.
While the upcoming business separation represents a significant transformation initiative within the scope of the role, the position also leads communications and change enablement for the broader People strategy - ensuring teammates understand the company's priorities, leadership expectations and organizational direction.
This role partners closely with the Senior Director, Global Internal Communications, who leads functional communications across corporate functions outside of HR and oversees enterprise communication channels and message distribution across the organization. Together, these roles ensure both strategic narrative development and effective delivery of communications across the organization.
Key Responsibilities

  • Translate People initiatives into clear and compelling communication for teammates and leaders.
  • Partner closely with the CHRO and People Leadership Team on major workforce announcements and messaging.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency across all People-related communication.
  • Support leadership communications tied to culture, performance expectations and organizational priorities.

Separation & Transformation Communications
Lead the people-side communication and change strategy for GPC's separation into two independent public companies.
  • Develop the teammate narrative and messaging framework supporting the separation.
  • Advise leaders on communication strategies tied to organizational design, workforce changes, benefits, talent and leadership structures.
  • Ensure teammates understand the purpose, progress and implications of the separation.
  • Coordinate communication sequencing across multiple transformation workstreams.
  • Support leaders through sensitive transition communications and major change moments.

Change Strategy & Organizational Alignment
Serve as a strategic partner in enabling organizational change across major People initiatives.
  • Design communication and engagement strategies that support adoption of key People initiatives.
  • Partner with HR, business leaders and communications colleagues to align messaging and change sequencing.
  • Identify potential teammate experience or engagement risks during periods of transformation.
  • Ensure communications reinforce the company's culture and performance expectations during change.

Cross-Functional Integration
Ensure alignment between People communications, enterprise messaging and business priorities.
  • Partner closely with the Global Internal Communications team on communication delivery and channel strategy.
  • Integrate People messaging with broader enterprise narratives.
  • Advise workstream leaders on timing, messaging risks and teammate impact.
  • Ensure messaging consistency across major initiatives and functions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Human Resources or a related field.
  • PROSCI certification or comparable formal certification in change management required.
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, organizational transformation communications, change leadership or related roles.
  • Experience supporting large-scale organizational change, such as business transformations, restructurings, mergers, acquisitions or corporate separations.
  • Strong ability to translate complex business and organizational decisions into clear, compelling employee communications.
  • Experience partnering closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams, including HR leadership.
  • Exceptional narrative development, strategic thinking and executive writing skills.
  • Experience integrating messaging across multiple complex workstreams.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in high-change, high-ambiguity environments.
