The Director serves as the primary liaison with third-party administrators (TPAs), insurance brokers, carriers, defense counsel, and internal leadership to reduce risk, control claim costs, protect organizational assets, and support business continuity.Key ResponsibilitiesRisk and Insurance ManagementDevelop and maintain an enterprise risk management and loss-prevention program.Identify and evaluate operational, financial, regulatory, safety, security, cyber, and reputational risks.Manage the organizationโ€™s insurance portfolio, including property, casualty, workersโ€™ compensation, general liability, automobile, cyber, and executive liability coverages.Lead insurance renewals, exposure-data collection, underwriting submissions, coverage analysis, and negotiations with brokers and carriers.Evaluate policy limits, deductibles, self-insured retentions, coverage gaps, and risk-financing opportunities.Review contractual insurance, indemnification, certificate-of-insurance, and risk-transfer requirements.Prepare risk reports, loss analyses, and recommendations for executive leadership.Claims and TPA OversightManage relationships with TPAs, carriers, adjusters, defense counsel, medical providers, and other claim partners.Establish claim-handling expectations, service standards, reporting requirements, escalation procedures, and settlement authority.Provide day-to-day oversight of workersโ€™ compensation, guest injury, property, automobile, and other casualty claims from initial reporting through closure.Review claim investigations, compensability and liability decisions, reserves, treatment plans, litigation strategies, settlements, and closure plans.Conduct regular claim reviews and closely monitor high-exposure, litigated, lost-time, and long-duration claims.Evaluate TPA performance using measures such as responsiveness, reserve accuracy, claim duration, litigation results, return-to-work outcomes, and closure rates.Coordinate significant claims with executive leadership, Legal, Human Resources, Security, Surveillance, Finance, and property management.Identify opportunities for subrogation, contribution, insurance recovery, and other cost recovery.Workersโ€™ Compensation and SafetyDirect workersโ€™ compensation programs for Colorado and Nevada operations.Partner with Human Resources, department leadership, TPAs, and medical providers to coordinate treatment, work restrictions, modified duty, and return-to-work efforts.Monitor injury trends, lost-time claims, recurring injuries, delayed reporting, and claim severity.Oversee workplace safety, injury-prevention, and loss-control initiatives.Lead or coordinate investigations involving serious injuries, guest incidents, property damage, or significant near misses.Ensure corrective actions are assigned, documented, and completed.Promote compliance with OSHA and applicable state workersโ€™ compensation and safety requirements.Operational and Business RiskAssess risks involving casino, hotel, food and beverage, entertainment, retail, facilities, transportation, construction, and special-event operations.Partner with Security, Surveillance, Compliance, Finance, Legal, IT, and operational leadership on risk mitigation.Evaluate vendor, contractor, and third-party risks.Support business continuity, emergency preparedness, disaster recovery, crisis response, and major property-loss planning.Collaborate with IT and Legal on cybersecurity, privacy, incident response, and cyber insurance matters.Monitor emerging risks affecting hospitality and gaming operations.Leadership and ReportingLead and develop risk management, claims, workersโ€™ compensation, and safety personnel.Create dashboards and reports addressing claim frequency, severity, reserves, litigation, safety trends, and total cost of risk.Deliver risk, claim-reporting, incident-investigation, and safety training.Promote a culture of early reporting, accountability, compliance, and proactive loss prevention.Maintain a visible presence at both casino resort properties and respond to significant incidents as needed.QualificationsBachelorโ€™s degree. Related fields in risk management, insurance, business, finance, hospitality, and safety are helpful.
