Sugar Grove Senior Living is seeking a dedicated and hands-on Housekeeping Director to oversee the daily operations of our housekeeping department. This is a working leadership role focused on maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for our residents while providing direction and support to the housekeeping team.

The ideal candidate will have previous housekeeping experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to lead by example. Managing experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with extensive housekeeping experience, including those from the hotel or hospitality industry, are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support the daily activities of the housekeeping staff
  • Perform hands-on housekeeping duties while working alongside the team
  • Ensure resident rooms, common areas, and other facility areas are clean, sanitary, and well-maintained
  • Train, coach, and provide guidance to housekeeping staff on cleaning procedures, safety, and performance expectations
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, sanitation, and safety standards
  • Monitor housekeeping supplies and communicate ordering needs as necessary
  • Report hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, and maintenance or supply concerns to the appropriate personnel
  • Assist with staffing coverage when needed, including occasional coverage for employee call-offs
  • Maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents while providing respectful and compassionate service
  • Assist with new admissions, readmissions, and resident room transfers as needed
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and leadership
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and in-service programs as directed
  • Help maintain an organized, efficient, and positive housekeeping department

Qualifications

  • Previous housekeeping experience required
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred but not required
  • Extensive housekeeping experience with demonstrated ability to take on a leadership role strongly considered
  • Hotel, hospitality, skilled nursing, assisted living, or other housekeeping experience welcome
  • Must be comfortable working in a hands-on housekeeping role
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning, sanitation, and infection control practices
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
