Director of Engineering (Industrial / Engineered-to-Order) - Louisville, KY
Full-Time | Leadership | ~25% Travel | Bonus Eligible
I'm partnering with a confidential, established engineering and process systems company to hire a Director of Engineering to lead a growing team and drive both technical strategy and execution in a project-based, engineered-to-order environment.
This is a highly visible role reporting to corporate engineering leadership, with site-level influence and direct impact on growth, team development, and client solutions.
What You'll Do
  • Lead engineering, shop, and service teams to deliver complex, customer-driven solutions
  • Partner with Sales to develop technical proposals, estimates, and engineered solutions
  • Drive project execution across performance, cost, quality, and schedule
  • Set direction for team growth, hiring, and development (team scaling in progress)
  • Oversee engineering design reviews (P&IDs, layouts, system integration)
  • Build and improve engineering processes, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives
What You Bring
  • 7+ years leading engineering teams in industrial or engineered-to-order environments
  • Hands-on background in mechanical/process/system design with fluid motion
  • Experience supporting customer-facing projects, proposals, and project delivery
  • Strong leadership skills across team building, coaching, and performance management
  • Background in project-based engineering, manufacturing, or automation systems
  • Bachelor's in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical); PE a plus
