Job description

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.  

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:: Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As a mechanical engineer for General Dynamics Mission Systems, Undersea Mission Solutions, you’ll be a member of and may lead a cross functional team responsible for the development of electronic and mechanical packaging design, and validation, including: structural and thermal analysis, shock and vibration, and design for manufacturability.

  • Demonstrated documentation experience — procedures, specifications, design packages, and engineering reports
  • Create, review, and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and design rationale
  • Working knowledge of computer aided design tools (3D, 2D, layout), such as Creo

  • Experience with small form factor, high power electromechanical elements

  • Self-starting, detail-focused, problem solver

  • Experience with high-pressure applications, including sealing technologies.

  • Structural analysis experience using Ansys
